Race 1

STANLEY PARK was a tad disappointing in his last start when favourite. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. His penultimate run when finishing second over this C&D was encouraging. The son of Oratorio meets the right field this afternoon and should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

SMITH AND WESSON showed some improvement in his last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He set the pace that day, but did not go on with the effort. The drop to 1000m may suit him well and he will be cherry-ripe. The stable is in fine form and he should be one of the leading contenders.

SUPER FAST is an unraced son of Querari from the Tony Rivalland yard with Sean Veale in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Samuel Salt and Scented Mistress. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 2

FINE DESIGN produced a promising debut effort at long odds over this C&D. She lost a length at the start, understandably raced green but finished her race off strongly. The daughter of Noble Tune would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she is capable of going one better.

ROYAL OASIS raced from a handy position over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time, but found one too good in the form of Sleek As Silk. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

CINNAMON BLUSH finished 1.3 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 3

BELLA BANDIERA has shown improvement in each of her outings to date. She raced from a handy position over 1000m on the Polytrack last time and stayed on to finish fourth. It must be noted that Lady Heist has come out and won again since. The daughter of Flying The Flag steps back up to the 1200m and with her handy galloping mass of 54kgs, she may be the one to side with.

CLASSICAL CHORD showed massive improvement in her last start over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She returns from a 15-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of this outing, she should be competitive.

CAMIKA showed some improvement in her last start over this C&D. The daughter of Querari is a progressive type and in this type of field, she can run into the placings.

Race 4

MONEY HEIST produced an eye-catching debut effort over this C&D. The manner in which he ran on at the finish that day was encouraging. The son of Gimmethegreenlight found betting support which suggests that he was showing good work at home. It must be noted that Fire Lord has come out and won again since. The son of Gimmethegreenlight would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.

JOHNNY’S HOPE showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he hung in the closing stages. The son of Canford Cliffs is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.

OVER AND ICE ran a decent race in his last start over this C&D. The son of Twice Over is coming along the right way and from his good draw of two, he should fight out the finish.

Race 5

This is a competitive Merit Rated 76 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is SHAPE OF YOU from the Gareth van Zyl stable with Athandiwe Mgudlwa in the saddle. She moved up like a winner in her comeback run over 1600m last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Bella Siccome. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade takes a drop in class and should strip much fitter. She may be the one to side with.

FAMILY FAVOURITE was ultra-impressive when going from gun to tape in her last start over 1600m on this course. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. She takes a rise in class, but is in a good space and may be up to the task at hand.

MEL’S PRINCESS is better than her last start on the Polytrack. It must be noted that Flashy Kaitrina has come out and won again since. She finished second in her penultimate run on this course and with just 52.5kgs on her back, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

SENOR GARCIA set the pace in his last start over this distance on the Polytrack, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Track Commander. The son of Coup De Grace meets a similar type of field today and can go one better.

MASTER TOBE’S last two starts have been good. It must be noted that the form of his last start has been franked. He has won twice and finished third once from six starts on this course. Keagan de Melo steps back into the saddle and the combination merit healthy respect.

FEVER showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this distance on the Polytrack. The removal of the blinkers seem to have done the trick and with a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should run into the money.

Race 7

COIN SPINNER is better than his last start in the Grade 2 Post Merchants. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won his only attempt over this C&D. On best form shown, he should notch up his fifth career victory.

CAPTAIN FONTANE returns to the Garth Puller stable. He is much better than his recent form suggests and the 16-week break would have done him the world of good. He is unbeaten from two starts on this course and should find a form return.

MOUNT PLEASANT was staying on at the business end over 1000m last time. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. If jumping on terms, he is capable of running into the first three.

Race 8

RULERSHIP ran a good race when finishing third over this distance on the Polytrack last time. The manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. He was reported to be coughing that day. The son of William Longsword won on debut over this C&D. He has plenty of scope and should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

SLIM JANNIE won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over this C&D. The son of Pathfork takes a rise in class, but he looks to be above average and may be up to the task at hand.

SIR POM stayed on when third over 1200m on this course last time. He has won twice and finished second once from seven starts over this C&D. If not too far out of his ground at the halfway mark, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest
