Race 1

ABADDON caught the eye when second on debut over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He lost a length leaving the start, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. It must be noted that Thisiswhatitmeans has come out and won again since. The son of Flying The Flag would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he can go one better.

BEACH PALACE ran a fair race on debut over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He lost two lengths leaving the start, but stayed on at the finish. The son of Potala Palace would have come on from the run and should love the extra furlong on offer. He gets the services of a 4kgs claiming apprentice and can improve.

LASHLAROO is an unraced son of Erupt from the Frank Robinson yard with Muzi Yeni in the saddle. He is related to eight-time winner True To Life. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers.

Race 2

ONE SMART COOKIE ran a good race when third on debut over this C&D. She was green in running, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber would have come on from the run and with S’manga Khumalo retaining the ride, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

THESUPERNOVASTAR took time to find her feet on debut, but finished off her race nicely. She has plenty of scope and would have come on from the run. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

MADAME ZEE has improved in her last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. She is in a good space and can earn another cheque for her patrons.

Race 3

CUE THE REBEL has produced three decent efforts to date. She showed good speed over this C&D last time, but was outrun late. The daughter of Querari meets the right field this afternoon and she can shed her maiden tag.

RANI OF JHANSI is an unraced daughter of Vercingetorix from the Gareth van Zyl stable with Athandiwe Mgudlwa in the saddle. She is related to three-time winner Wiccan Warrior. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

FIRE PHOENIX rallied late when third over 1000m on this course last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she should have no issues with the rise to 1200m. Cole Dicken retains the ride and she can feature.

Race 4

KING OF THE GAULS is the best bet on the programme. He produced a promising debut effort in a competitive field over this C&D. It must be noted that Sovereign State has come out and won again since. The son of Vercingetorix found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. He would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.

TEATIME TIPPLE was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1200m. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. His penultimate run when second over this distance catches the eye and he is one of the leading contenders.

COTTON RON moved up like a winner last time but was caught in the shadow of the post by Activator. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. He will strip much fitter and can finish in the placings.

Race 5

This is a competitive Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is FLIGHT DISPLAY from the Mike Miller stable. She lost two lengths leaving the start last time, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Futura will love the extra distance on offer and if jumping on terms, she can win.

KITTY MO set the pace over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time, but found one too good in the form of Sign Of Fate. She tries the 1750m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be hard to peg back.

PRINCESS AZARIAH moved up like a winner in her last start, but did not go on with the effort. She has finished third twice from three starts on this course. She drops to 1750m and Richard Fourie may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 6

ANDY COOGLE should have finished closer to the winner in a tight finish last time. He set the pace but was carried and steadied for running room at the 200m mark. That was his first run as a gelding and the blinkers seem to have had the desired effect. The son of Heavenly Blue should have no issues with the rise to the mile and with luck in running, he may be the one to beat.

LAST ONE STANDING was a tad disappointing in his last start after an eye-catching debut effort. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. If putting his best foot forward, he should pose a massive threat.

CAPTAIN MARSALA showed good improvement when second in his last start over 1400m on this course. He set the pace that day, but was outrun late by Bristol Hercules. He is likely to adopt the same tactics from the widest draw and may be hard to peg back.

Race 7

ASIYE PHAMBILI moved up well in her last start over this distance on the polytrack and kept finding to hold all challengers at bay. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of What A Winter meets a similar field this afternoon and if suited to the course, she can follow up.

MAGICAL FLIGHT finished 1.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

WOODLAND RETREAT finished 1.4 lengths behind ALPHABETTY last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights this afternoon and will be at peak fitness. With a bit of luck in running, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 8

PATRONAGE showed good speed over this C&D last time, fought hard all the way to the line but was touched off by Beechamwood Boy. The 6yo gelding drops back in class. Rachel Venniker steps back into the saddle and he can notch up his seventh career victory.

TWICE THE STORM finished 0.2 lengths behind NEITHERHERENORTHER last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

NEITHERHERENORTHER ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The son of Querari is back in Handicap Company and must be included in all bets
