Race 1
BOUNDLESS BASH produced a promising debut effort over 1100m on this course, four weeks ago. He lost a length at the start, shifted away from the crop but ran on strongly once finding his feet. The son of Judpot would have gained from the experience and will enjoy the extra 100m on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he is the horse to beat.
EDDIE THE MOVER showed good speed on debut over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville, but found one too good in the form of Ode To The Ocean. The son of Vercingetorix would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression.
RETURN TO RUSSIA is an unraced son of Pomodoro from the Mike Miller stable with Serino Moodley in the saddle. He is related to Miss Putin who has won once and placed three times from five starts. If not too green, he should get his career off to a positive start. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first-timers in this contest.
Race 2
RED SOLE has finished second in his last four starts. He was reported to have bled in his last start and returns from a 15-week break. He should have no issues with the drop to the 1200m and if not in need of the run, he is the horse to beat in this type of field.
SENOR GARCIA moved up like a winner last time but was touched off by Pineview. If repeating that effort in this line-up, he can go one better.
AMERICAN DREAM is an unraced son of Jay Peg from the Shane Humby stable with Donovan Dillon in the irons. He is related to two-time winner Twiceasfast. If not too green, he should get his career off to a positive start. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.
Race 3
Trainer Peter Muscutt holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first two past the post. RAIN OR SHINE produced a decent debut effort over 1200m on the Polytrack. Despite racing wide around the turn, he stayed on nicely at the finish. The son of Soft Falling Rain returns from a lengthy 30-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He will enjoy the extra furlong on offer and can improve to win if fit.
IMILENZEYOKUDUDUMA took on stronger in the Listed Gatecrasher Stakes last time. He returns from a long 36-week break, during which time he was gelded. He showed plenty of promise on his debut effort and if not in need of the run, should be competitive.
ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD ran a fair race in his comeback run over 1200m last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He should strip much fitter and can feature.
Race 4
ONE TOO MANY finished 0.8 lengths behind FAUSTINO last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He returns from a 10-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. With just 53.5kgs on his back, he may be the one to side with.
FAUSTINO showed good speed when winning his last start over this C&D. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Siyanda Sosibo and can follow up.
BLAZE OF SILK finished 1.2 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result. He is having his second run after a rest and should strip a much fitter horse.
Race 5
PARTY TIME produced a good comeback run when finishing fifth, 1.45 lengths behind the winner in the Non-Black Type Marula Sprint. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He will strip a much fitter horse this afternoon and with Serino Moodley back in the saddle, he may be the one to side with.
AQUA BOLT’S last two starts have been decent. It must be noted that multiple horses from his last form line have come out and won since. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from eight starts over this distance. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
PURPLE FLAME is lightly raced with good form to his credit. The drop to 1200m should not pose a concern and with his handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs, he should be competitive.
Race 6
SOCRATES was given a peach of a ride when winning the Non-Black Type Marula Sprint last time. He has finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. He jumps from a mid-field draw and can follow up.
TREAD SWIFTLY is much better than his last start in the Listed Michael Roberts Stakes. His penultimate run when finishing fourth in the Listed Christmas Stakes catches the eye. The son of What A Winter has cracked a good draw and should be one of the leading contenders.
SHAMPOMPO SHAMPIZI won a good race in his last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Var takes a rise in class, but he carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and should be up to the task at hand
Race 7
CAPRICCIO finished 0.85 lengths behind CRAZY BLUES last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has finished second once and third four times from seven starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck from her wide draw, she can return to winning ways.
PRINCESS TEA set the pace in her last start over 1200m and kept going well to hold all challengers at bay. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. Jason Gates retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
CRAZY BLUES set the pace in her last start over this distance on the Polytrack, but was caught late by Hot Money. She makes her course debut and if suited to the track, she should fight out the finish.
Race 8
MISS GIBSON followed up her maiden win with a decent fifth-place finish over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She was squeezed at the start, but stayed on nicely at the finish. She won her maiden over this distance and if suited to Hollywoodbets Scottsville, she should be too good for this field.
AIRBUZZ was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1100m on the Polytrack. She should have no issues with the 1400m and is one of the leading contenders.
KAVIAN’S CARA was in need of her comeback run over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She takes a drop in class and should strip much fitter. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Gabriel Pieterse takes the ride and she can cause the upset
