Race 1

DEVILS AND DUST ran a fair race on debut over 1000m. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish suggests that she will enjoy the rise to 1400m. She would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement. She does have a wide draw to overcome, but gets the services of Warren Kennedy who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

MINSTREL GALLERY produced a fair debut effort over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She lost a length at the start, but stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She will be at home over 1400m and should make the natural progression.

ALTO ALEX is an unraced daughter of Global View from the Tienie Prinsloo yard with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle. She is related to seven-time winner Bold Ransom. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

Race 2

SPECIALLY SELECTED has been costly to follow, but he is yet to finish out of the first three. The son of Duke Of Marmalade tries the 1400m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should shed his maiden tag in this field.

RAVENS SWORD showed very good improvement when finishing second in his last start over 1200m on the Polytrack. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of William Longsword will enjoy the rise to 1400m and he should pose a threat.

ALPENHORN has decent recent form lines to his credit. He is having his first run on this course and if suited, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 3

IDEAL ACT was ultra-impressive when winning his last start over 1400m on the Polytrack. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. He steps back up to the mile and will be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the line.

AL’S MY DADDY won a good race in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He set the pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. He was reported to be cut into that day which makes the victory that much more encouraging.

PAPA C was bumped at the start last time and never got into the race. He has been gelded since that outing which may have done the trick. He drops back to the mile and on best form shown, he should be competitive.

Race 4

THE KOP stayed on nicely at the finish over 2000m at the Vaal, but found one too good in the form of Afraad. He takes a step back up to the 2400m and if all went well with his travels, he should be the one to beat.

REX UNION was an impressive winner of his last start over this distance at Durbanville. He quickened up well and won with a ton in hand. He is drawn widest of all which is a slight concern. He is carded to race on 22 April 2022 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

CHEWBACA has good consistent form lines to his credit. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. If keeping on a straight line, he can return to winning ways.

Race 5

IT’S ABOUT TIME was touched off when second over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course, two weeks ago. That was his first start with the blinkers fitted which seems to have done the trick. He takes a drop in class and despite his big mass of 61kgs, he should be too good for this field.

LUNARCAM won a good race in his last start over 1100m on this course. He showed good pace, found another kick and drew clear of the opposition. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

HERECOMESTHERAIN won a good race in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville on the Polytrack. He showed good speed and kept finding to keep all challengers at bay. If not in need of the run, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

TRISTFUL ran a good race when finishing second in the Listed Christmas Stakes. He returns from a 17- week break which may have done him the world of good. He is unbeaten from three starts over this distance and will be looking to keep that record intact. He is carded to race on 22 April 2022 and his progress in that race will need to be followed.

LOOK FOR HOUNDS tried hard in his last start over this distance, but found one too good in the form of Warrior. He is having his first run on this course and if suited, he should be one of the leading contenders.

SILVER OPERATOR was given a peach of a ride when winning the Listed Jet Master Stakes. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He finished 2.85 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run and is 2kgs better off at the weights. He should finish closer as a result.

Race 7

QUANT MASTER ran a decent race when finishing third over this C&D last time. He showed good pace and stayed on at the finish. He takes a drop in class and with Donovan Dillon back in the saddle, he should go close to winning.

GUNSMOKE has produced two good third-place finishes after winning his maiden. He should have no issues with the drop to 1200m and will be staying on at the finish.

CALLMEMRGREENLIGHT showed good signs of a form return under Athandiwe Mgudlwa last time. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and should strip a much fitter horse.

Race 8

CANADIAN BOLT ran a good race when finishing second against stronger company over 1100m on this course, five weeks ago. He has won once, finished second four times and third once from ten starts over this distance. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and he may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.

BERNIE’S DREAM stayed on nicely at the finish over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Captain Who. He takes a drop back in class and if keeping on a straight line, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

THE TINKERMAN won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over this distance at Kenilworth. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He does take on stronger, but is lightly raced and has plenty of scope
