Race 1:

GALLIC CHIEF produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on the Polytrack, four weeks ago. He raced from a handy position that day and stayed on at the finish. The son of Vercingetorix would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.

COMING IN HOT hails from the visiting Fanie Bronkhorst stable. He has decent form to his credit. He is likely to race up with the pace and if all went well with his travels, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

CATCH THE TUNE may not have seen out the 1400m in his last start. He set the pace, but did not go on with his effort. The drop in trip will suit him well and with the blinkers re-fitted, he should earn a cheque.

Race 2:

ROCK ON PHILLY was ultra-impressive when winning on debut over 1000m on this course. She showed pace and despite hanging in the latter stages, she won with a ton in hand. The daughter of Philanthropist would have come on from the run and will be at home over today's distance. Warren Kennedy takes the ride and she should remain unbeaten.

AISLING won a good race over 800m on this course last time. She returns from a 14-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Visionaire looks to have ability and merits healthy respect.

CIVIL RIGHTS made the necessary improvement when winning her last start over 1000m. She finished 1.05 lengths behind the second choice on debut. If not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 3:

CASIMIRO was a tad disappointing in his last start over a mile at Hollywoodbets Greyville. His first two starts over this C&D were eye-catching. Anton Marcus takes the ride this afternoon and he should be able to coax that little bit extra out of the son of Mogok where it matters most.

CAMORA has been his own worst enemy in his last three starts as he tends to hang in races. He has finished second once and third once from three starts over this C&D. If keeping on a straight line, he should give the top choice a run for his money.

GREY OCEAN produced four decent runs to date. He returns from a 13-week break which may have done him the world of good. Warren Kennedy steps back into the saddle and if not in need of the run, he should be competitive.

Race 4:

WILLIAMS LAND ran a good race when finishing third in his last start over a mile at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He finished 0.8 lengths behind SOCRATES three runs ago and is 2kgs better off at the weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. He gets the blinkers fitted this afternoon which should keep his mind on the task at hand. He is yet to be unplaced over this C&D and will be looking to keep that record intact.

SOCRATES' last two starts on this course have been good. He fought hard all the way to the line last time, but found one too good in the form of Guru's Pride. He jumps from a good draw of four and merits healthy respect.

SIR MICHAEL has had excuses in his last two starts in the Cape. He won his only attempt over this distance. He returns from a 12-week break today which may have been what he needed. If not in need of the run, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 5:

DIAMONDSANDPEARLS moved up like a winner in her last start, but was caught in the shadow of the post. She has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this distance. Anton Marcus takes the ride this afternoon and from pole position, she should get back to winning ways.

AFRICAN SUNRISE'S last four starts have been decent. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should be one of the leading contenders.

KAROO LARK has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He cast a shoe in running last time which makes the effort that much more encouraging. He should be cherry-ripe today and cannot be ignored.

Race 6:

CONCHITA has produced two decent efforts since winning her maiden over a mile at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests she will enjoy the step up in distance. The daughter of Toreador takes a drop in class today and may be the one to side with.

SILVER MARIA just won her last start over a mile at Kenilworth. She won her only attempt over this distance, three runs ago. She returns from a short 10-week break and if not in need of the run, she should pose a threat.

TWICE TO SYDNEY finished 1.7 lengths behind KEEP ON DANCING last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

Race 7:

This is a competitive Merit Rated 100 Handicap and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is GOOD RHYTHM from the Louis Goosen yard. He had to overcome a wide draw at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time, but stayed on nicely to finish third. He has finished second three times from four starts on this course. If keeping on a straight line, he may be the one to beat.

WAYWOOD was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1000m on the polytrack. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

FILIPPO was ultra-impressive when winning his last start over 1000m on this course. He has won four times and finished second three times from eleven starts on this course. The hat-trick is very much on the cards.

Race 8:

GOLDEN TRIP has produced two decent efforts to date. She was reported to be coughing in both those outings. The daughter of Trippi makes her stable debut for the Gareth van Zyl yard. If settled into her new surroundings, she should be the one to beat. She gets the ear muffs fitted which should help her cause.

DUCHESS OF SUSSEX is better than her last start suggests as she had excuses. She returns from an 11-week break which may have done her the world of good. The daughter of Count Dubois makes her course debut and if suited to the track, she should give a good account of herself.

BLANCHETTA is still a maiden after 13 starts, but has decent recent form to her credit. She has finished second once and third three times from seven starts on this course. She will be staying on strongly at the finish
