Race 1

Trainer Mike Miller holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first two past the post. BITCOIN BABY took time to find her feet on debut, but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. The daughter of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and with stable jockey Serino Moodley in the saddle, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

AFRICAN BEAT finished 0.85 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

MIA’S ATHENA is an unraced daughter of Lancaster Bomber from the Duncan Howells stable with Keagan de Melo in the saddle. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

Race 2

LUCKY MISS has finished second in her last four starts. She raced from a handy position over 1500m on this course last time, moved up well but was outrun late by Lady Legend. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from five starts over this C&D. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

SOUTHERN CAPE was her own worst enemy over 1800m last time as she over raced in the early stages. It must be noted that Cape Eagle has come out and won again since. She should have no issues with the drop to 1400m and is one of the leading contenders.

ONLY HEARTS ran a fair race in her comeback run over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville on the turf. The daughter of Querari would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. Despite her big mass of 61.5kgs, she has the class to be competitive.

Race 3

AFRICAN DUSK is the best bet on the programme. He showed good improvement in his last start over 1400m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will be at home over the mile. The son of Ideal World meets the right field and from his good draw of two, he should take a power of beating.

ARVERNI KING has decent recent form lines to his credit. He has finished third in both his efforts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SIR CEDRIC showed very good improvement when second over this distance on the Polytrack last time. He returns from a 15-week break which may have done him the world of good. If not in need of the run, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

CONGO COMPAQ stayed on when fifth in his comeback run over this distance on the Polytrack. He was reported to have cast a shoe in running that day. The 6yo gelding has won once and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse today and on best form shown, he is capable of returning to winning ways.

TEICHMAN won a good race in his last start over this distance on the polytrack. He received the maximum eight-pound penalty for that victory. He runs well for Athandiwe Mgudlwa and the pair merit healthy respect.

ARROW’S MARK finished 3.85 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 5

ZOOBERI has followed up his maiden victory with two good efforts, the latest of which was over this distance on the polytrack. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. The son of William Longsword is in a good space and may be the one to side with.

CAVALIERI was not disgraced when fifth against stronger company over 1400m on this course, two weeks ago. He takes a drop in class and if finding the form of his penultimate run, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

TIME TAKER showed some signs of a form return in his last start over 1800m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville turf track. He returns from a 13-week break which may have done him the world of good. If not in need of the run, he is capable of finishing in the placings.

Race 6

EAU DE VIE has shown some signs of a form return in her last two starts after returning from a 22-week break. She was not disgraced when fifth in the Non-Black Type River Indigo Handicap last time. The daughter of Twice Over takes a drop in class and she will be cherry-ripe. If jumping on terms, she can return to winning ways. MARIA

COROLINA stayed on when fourth over 1500m on this course last time. She takes a drop in class and should have no issues with the rise to 1800m. She is drawn widest of all, but gets the services of Keagan de Melo who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

CHELSEA FLOWER finished 3.1 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 7

CYBER TIME is better than his last start over 1600m which is a distance short of his best. He won a game race in his penultimate start over 2300m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The son of Futura has won once and finished second twice from five starts on this course. He should have no issues with the rise to 2600m and may be hard to peg back under Jason Gates.

WITH PLEASURE finished 1.6 lengths behind TOM BOMBADIL last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He stays all day and merits healthy respect.

TWICE GOLDEN finished 2 lengths behind TOM BOMBADIL in the race referred to above. He is also 3.5kgs better off at the weights today. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 8

Trainer Garth Puller holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first two past the post. FRANZ LEHAR ran a good race when third in the Non-Black Type African Holly Handicap last time. The son of Querari won on debut on this course and will love the rise to 1200m. He takes a drop back in class and is the horse to beat.

NOBLE SNIPER showed good improvement in his last start over 1400m on the Polytrack. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. Apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa takes the 2.5kgs off his back and he merits obvious inclusion.

STRAWBERRY BEAR won a game race in his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. He returns from a 12-week break during which time he was gelded. If fit, he should be involved in the fight to the finish
