Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: QUEEN OF THE DANCE(15)
Jockey: L Hewitson - Trainer: S Tarry

QUEEN OF THE DANCE seemed to find the minimum trip too sharp for her on her hometown debut last month and she will relish this extra furlong. She is rated by her stable and showed ability on debut during the Cape summer. The chestnut filly drops in class after facing winners in back-to-back starts.

Race 4: VIBURNUM(20)
Jockey: C Murray - Trainer: M De Kock

VIBURNUM was quietly fancied when he made late progress from a poor draw over seven furlongs on yielding ground on debut earlier this month and the Ideal World gelding should relish this extra furlong. He met a strong line-up that day and the formline could be worth keeping tabs on.

Race 6: MELINDA'S GARDEN(3)
Jockey: C Zackey   - Trainer: C Spies

The three-year olds could have a big say in this seven furlong handicap and MELINDA'S GARDEN can follow-up after her recent triumph over rank outsider CHARTER JET (1kg better off). Trainer Spies' charge kept on well to beat the latter over this trip that day and possibly escaped with just a three pound hike. Admittedly, the conditions favoured the pair but this track should also play into the hands of the top selection who tired very late over a mile in her penultimate start.

TOP BET

Race 8: FRAGRANT MISS(3)
Jockey: C Murray  - Trainer: M De Kock

The sparingly raced four-year old FRAGRANT MISS has shown fair ability whilst her top conditioner is still figuring out her optimum trip. Her last formline over further worked out really and the daughter of Captain Al races fresh after a nine week absence. She had a fair sprint debut in the summer behind subsequent winner Colour Of Light and could be the right one here.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 7: BAAHIR(4)
Jockey: J V.D.Merwe  - Trainer - D Sham

There are many really quick types who should ensure a fast time in this competitive five furlong handicap where the likely suicidal pace will suit the top selection BAAHIR who has remained consistent since returning to the Highveld. The five-year old has indicated for quite some time now that this may be his optimum distance.
