Race 1

LADY FALLON produced a promising debut effort over 1200m at the Vaal. She was green in running, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She returns from an 11-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. Samuel Mosia takes the ride on her return and in this field, she should take a power of beating.

CITY LIGHTS was in need of her debut effort over 1160m on this course. The daughter of Pomodoro would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression

IDEAL HEART ran a fair race in her last start over this C&D. On her best form shown, she can earn a cheque in this line-up.

Race 2

COMMAND PILOT produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. He understandably raced green, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The son of Lancaster Bomber would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.

TYRCONNELL produced an eye-catching debut in the Non-Black Type Bloodstock SA Sales Cup. He returns from a lengthy 45-week break, during which time he was gelded. He looks to have ability and if not in need of the run, he should go close to winning.

LORD DANON PLATINA ran a decent race on debut over 1200m on the Inside course. The son of Danon Platina would have come on from the run and should love the extra furlong on offer. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should make the natural progression.

Race 3

OUTER DIMENSION ran a fair race on debut over 1400m on this course. She jumped inwards leaving the start, but the manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. The daughter of Vercingetorix should love the rise to 1800m and with the natural improvement that is expected, she can win a race of this nature.

SOLO DIVA has fair consistent form lines to her credit. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1800m. Gavin Lerena takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

QUEEN BRITANNA stayed on when fourth against male company last time. She has finished third three times from five starts on this course. She is back against her own sex today and can finish in the money.

Race 4

RULE BOOK showed some signs of needing his comeback run over 1800m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. His last victory came over this C&D. The son of Global View will strip a much fitter horse today and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.

HAZLO GRANDE won a good race in his last start over 1800m on the Vaal Classic course. The blinkers did the trick on the son of Erupt. He tries the 2400m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

BREEZE OVER has finished second in his last three starts. He has won once and finished second twice from as many starts on this course. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the pair merit obvious inclusion.

Race 5

SILVER SANCTUARY is a well-bred daughter of Silvano. She was green in running on debut, but produced a strong finish to win going away. She would have come on a lot from the run. She does take on stronger, but could be anything and may be up to the task at hand

AMERICAN BISCUIT is better than his last start over 1800m. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

MO THE MAN raced wide around the turn last time and understandably lacked a finish in the straight. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from as many starts on this course. With a bit of luck in running, he should earn another cheque for his patrons.

Race 6

CALLMEWHENUNEEDME is the best bet on the programme. The manner in which she drew clear of the opposition over 1400m last time was eye-catching. She does take a rise in class, but is loaded with ability and should be up to the task at hand.

QUEEN OF CAMELOT stayed on when fourth over 1600m at the Vaal last time. She takes a rise in class, but she carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and should give a good account of herself.

SHARAPOVA is lightly raced with good form lines to her credit. She returns from a 17-week break, which may have done her the world of good. JP van der Merwe takes the ride and if fit, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 7

GILDA GRAY has good consistent form lines to her credit. She should have won her last start as she hung outwards in the final 400m. She has finished third in both her efforts over this C&D. The 5yo mare takes a drop-in class and if keeping on a straight line, she should notch up her fourth career victory.

COUNTESS DANZA followed up her maiden victory with a good third-place finish over 1600m at the Vaal. The daughter Captain Of All is in a good space and is one of the leading contenders.

TSITSIKAMMA PEARL ran a fair race when fourth in her post maiden effort over this C&D. She raced from a prominent position and stayed on at the finish. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off her back and she can feature.

Race 8

MABONENG has been a tad disappointing in her last two starts. Her last victory came over this C&D. The daughter of What A Winter takes a drop-in class and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she may be the one to side with in this field.

WRITTENINTHESAND finished 1.25 lengths behind MAMAQUERA last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With luck in running, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

MAMAQUERA was a tad disappointing over 1600m last time. She has won twice and finished third once from seven starts over this C&D. Gavin Lerena takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 9

This is a competitive Merit Rated 72 Handicap for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is SIMPLY MAGIC from the Brett Crawford stable. She stayed on when third over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She is versatile and in this line-up, she may be the one to beat.

FEATHER THE NEST finished 0.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

DANCING DORA finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
