Race 1
GREEN SAPPHIRE has produced three good runs to date. She stayed on at the finish over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Hong Kong. She will strip a much fitter horse today and with Piere Strydom in the saddle, she should take a power of beating.
BILINGUAL was running on when second over 1000m on this course last time. She has finished second once and third once from three starts over this C&D. Raymond Danielson may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
GIMME A STORM ran a fair race on debut over 1200m at the Vaal. She was squeezed leaving the start and stayed on at the finish. She is carded to race on 21 December 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 2
CHIEFTAIN‘S SHIELD should have finished closer to the winner last time and he was reported to be fatigued post-race. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He will love the rise to 2000m and may be the one to side with.
BAD MEDICINE stayed on when third over 1800m last time. He will love the step up to 2000m and from his good draw of three, he is one of the leading contenders.
THE MERCIFUL set the pace over 2600m last time before getting outrun late by Clear The Path. He is in a good space and is a solid back up for the Tyrone Zackey stable. He is carded to race on 21 December 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 3
GREY JET followed up his debut victory with a good second-place finish over this C&D. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was eye-catching. The son of Danon Platina has ability and may be the one to beat.
POTBERRIE ran a decent race when fourth over this distance at the Vaal last time. He raced from a prominent position and stayed on at the finish. He won his only attempt over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GUERILLA WARFARE finished 0.75 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 4
DESTINY OF FIRE is better than her last start in the Grade 3 Betway Fillies Mile as she was reported to be fatigued. Her first three career outings were good. She runs well for Serino Moodley and with just 52.5kgs on her back, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
SALENIO PENINSULA set the pace and tried hard when second over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She jumps from pole position and with Rachel Venniker taking the 1.5kgs off her back, she should pose a massive threat.
CEUTA has good form lines to her credit. She stayed on when third over this C&D last time. She would have come on from that run and should strip much fitter. She has ability and should be involved at the finish.
Race 5
ALMOND SEA cost herself at the start in the Listed Betway National Colour Stakes last time. However, the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. She will strip a much fitter horse and Calvin Habib steps back into the saddle. If jumping on terms, she should take a power of beating.
RODEO DRIVE has good form lines to her credit. She ran a good race when second in the Grade 2 World Pool With Gold Circle Debutante last time. She returns from a 22-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of the outing, she should be competitive.
KARATE KID quickened up well when winning his last start over this C&D. Rachel Venniker retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.
Race 6
FROZEN FANTASY stayed on when fourth over 1600m in the Grade 3 Betway Fillies Mile last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1800m. She carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and with a bit of luck in running, she can notch up her second-career victory.
SOLDIER‘S EYE finished 0.05 lengths behind LADY FALLON last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
LADY FALLON was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start in the Listed Summer Pudding Handicap. She is in a good space and from her good draw of three, she can follow up.
Race 7
PISTOL PETE‘S last two starts have been good. He showed pace in the Grade 3 New Turf Carriers Merchants last time, but found one too good in the form of Mount Pilatus. He is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. He is having his peak run today and will be hard to peg back.
SHELDON finished 3 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
ICE STAR produced a strong finish when winning the Listed Betway National Colour Stakes last time. Four of her five career victories have come over this distance. She is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.
Race 8
JUST VAR is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Var meets a similar line-up this afternoon and he can bring up the hat-trick.
LAUGHING WILLIAM is inconsistent, but his last start over 1500m on the Vaal Classic course was good. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from nine starts over this distance. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
KING OF NUMBERS ran a good race when fourth over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course last time. Jason Gates retains the ride and if repeating that effort, he can show
