The daughter of William Longsword would have gained from the experience and will love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should take a power of beating.

SPECIALLY SELECTED produced an eye-catching debut effort over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He lost 2 lengths at the start, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Duke Of Marmalade would have gained from the experience and if jumping on terms, he should go one better.
Race 5: SOUTH BOY(1)
Jockey: Lerena G – Trainer: Janse van Vuuren
SOUTH BOY showed good speed in his last start over 1160m on the Standside course, but found one too good in the form of Raisetheredlantern. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Equal Stripes looks to be a progressive type and can shed his maiden tag.

NORDIC REBEL has some decent recent form lines to his credit. He finished 1.7 lengths behind THE CONTRACTOR in his penultimate start. He is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and if jumping on terms, he can return to winning ways
