SMORGASBORD ran a good race when finishing second behind Sheela in the Grade 2 SA Nursery last time. He was reported to be coughing that day which makes the effort that much more encouraging. The son of Twice Over should love the step up to the 1400m. He clearly has ability and should take a power of beating.

DESERT MIRACLE is one of the better bets on the card. She produced an eye-catching effort when finishing second in the Grade 2 SA Fillies Nursery at level weights. The daughter of Dynasty will be at home over today’s distance. She looks to have some class about her and if not too green around the turn, she should take a power of beating.

CHIJMES finished 1.6 lengths behind EXPRESSFROMTHEUS last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Gavin Lerena takes the ride this afternoon and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most
