Race 2: OUTOFTHEDARKNESS (3)
Jockey: K de Melo – Trainer: J A Janse
rainer Johan Janse van Vuuren holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first two past the post. OUTOFTHEDARKNESS ran a good race when third over 1600m on this course last time. The manner in which he finished his race off that day was encouraging. He has won three times and finished third once from as many starts on this course. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and if Keagan de Melo is able to switch him off early, he should be the one to beat.
Race 3: RAVEN BLACK (12)
Jockey: SCRATCHED – Trainer: B Crawford
RAVEN BLACK produced a promising debut effort over 1100m on the Standside course. He was reported to have bled that day and returns from his suspension/break. He found plenty of betting support on debut which suggests that he was showing good work at home. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.
Race 4: WHITE FANG (1)
Jockey: S Khumalo – Trainer: A Azzie
WHITE FANG finished 1.7 lengths behind FLYING FIRST CLASS last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won three times and finished third once from six starts over this C&D. He is likely to race on the speed from his good draw of two and may be hard to peg back.
Top Bet For Today
Race 6: CAPTAIN PEG (2)
Jockey: R Danielson – Trainer: R Magner
CAPTAIN PEG was super-impressive when winning her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She was slow into stride, but quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. The daughter of Jay Peg makes her Handicap debut and she looks to be above average. Diego De Gouveia retains the ride and she should remain unbeaten.
Value Bet For Today
Race 8: QUEST FROM AFAR (4)
Jockey: C Habib – Trainer: M Azzie
QUEST FROM AFAR ran a decent race in her post-maiden debut over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She received a bump leaving the starting stalls, but set the pace before getting outrun late. She is likely to have her own way in front from pole position once again and may be hard to peg back
