Magic Tips Best Bets

Top Bet For Today

Race 1: K De Melo (1)

GOBSMACKED is the best bet on the programme. She was super-impressive when winning on debut over 1000m on the Standside course. Despite hanging from the 200m mark, the manner in which she quickened up and drew clear was eye-catching. The daughter of Querari would have gained from the experience and could be anything. She is the only winner in this contest and should remain unbeaten.

Race 2: MERCANTOUR (1)
Jockey: K Matsunyane – Trainer: S Pettigrew

MERCANTOUR should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be steadied at the 150m mark. He won a good race in his penultimate start over this distance at the Vaal. The son of Var has ability and from his good draw of two, he can return to winning ways.

Race 3: ARENA (6)
Jockey: S Khumalo – Trainer: M Azzie

ARILENA produced an eye-catching debut effort over 1160m on the Standside course. She showed good speed, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Antigua Night. The daughter of Silvano would have come on from the run and if not too green around the turn, she can go one better.

Race 5: CASTLETOWN (2)
Jockey: K Matsunyane – Trainer: S Pettigrew

CASTLETOWN was doing his best work late when finishing third behind William Robertson last time. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. He returns to Handicap company this afternoon and should be too good for this field.

Value Bet For Today

Race 6: LAST CHEER (6)
Jockey: N Klink – Trainer: St John Gray

LAST CHEER finished 0.75 lengths behind CODE ZERO last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. She has won twice from four starts over this C&D and will be cherry-ripe. Nathan Klink retains the ride and she may be the one to side with
