Race 1

MARY’S GREENLIGHT was a beaten odds-on favourite in her comeback run over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. She would have come on from that outing and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight tries the 1450m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should go one better.

BOOM BOOM stayed on when fifth over 1200m on this course. Her penultimate run when third over this distance catches the eye. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

WONDER I DO has produced three fair runs to date. She showed some signs of needing her last start over this distance. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She will strip much fitter and has plenty of scope.

Race 2

TRIP TO STATES’ last two starts have been fair. He will be fitted with the blinkers this afternoon which may do the trick. The son of The United States has cracked a good draw of three and he can shed his maiden tag.

THUNEE PLAYA produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. He was outpaced, but the manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. The son of Vercingetorix would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should pose a massive threat.

FEEL ALL RIGHT raced from a handy position over this C&D last time, but was caught late by Pocket Watch. With luck from his awkward draw of nine, he can go one better.

Race 3

EIFFEL TOWER raced from a handy position over 1700m on this course last time and stayed on to finish third. He takes a drop-in class and will love the return to the mile. The son of Potala Palace is the best weighted runner and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he should be the horse to beat.

BLOOMINGTON has decent consistent form lines to his credit. Four of his five career victories have come on this course. S’manga Khumalo steps back into the saddle and he should pose a threat.

FREE MOVEMENT was running on when third over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. He has won once and finished second three times from as many starts over this distance. His last victory came under Gavin Lerena and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 4

This is a competitive Merit Rated 76 Handicap for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is MY LADY SOUL from the Tyrone Zackey stable. She raced wide in the Non-Black Type Bloodstock SA Sales Cup last time and understandably lacked a finish in the straight. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is having her first run in Handicap Company. She has plenty of scope and from her good draw of four, she can improve.

QUEEN BOMI is better than her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should be competitive.

COLORADO CREEK stayed on when fifth over 1800m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. With a bit of luck from her wide draw of 12, she should have a say in the outcome of this cont

Race 5

SHARAPOVA has very good consistent form lines to her credit. She received a bump leaving the start last time, but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She does meet a competitive field, but carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and should be up to the task at hand.

LADY CALAVERA finished 2.75 lengths behind KEY ELEMENT in her penultimate run. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Four of her five career victories have come over this distance and she is one of the leading contenders.

KEY ELEMENT won a game race in her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She received a six-pound penalty for that victory. Her best form has been under Philasande Mxoli and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 6

GREENLIGHT MAGIC ran on strongly when second in his last start over 1800m on the Vaal Classic course. The removal of the tongue-tie seems to have done the trick. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and in this field, he can go one better.

LITTLE PRINCE stayed on when second over this distance on the Hollywoodbets Greyville Polytrack last time. He has won twice and finished third three times from seven starts on this course. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should go close to winning.

BROTHERHOODOFMAGIC finished 2.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result

Race 7

CULLINAN BLUE is better than her last start in the Grade 1 Allan Robertson Championship. She returns from a 21-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Vercingetorix won on debut over this C&D. She does have ability and with luck in running, she can return to winning ways.

FULLY LOADED has finished third in his last three starts. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He has won once, finished second once and third three times from six starts over this distance. He should be the first male past the post.

COPPER JOHN is better than his post-menem effort. He returns from an 11-week break which would have done him the world of good. From his good draw of four, improvement is expected.

Race 8

BROSNAN stayed on when third over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course last time. He finished 1.75 lengths behind LIFE GOES ON that day. He is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He finished second in his only attempt on this course. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 4kgs off his back and he should be competitive.

LIFE GOES ON won a good race in his last start. He has won once and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. He is in a good space and can follow up.

AFTER HOURS stayed on when second over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most
