Top Bet For Today

Race 2: KING OF VENUS (9)
Jockey: G Lerena – Trainer: S Tarry

KING OF VENUS was all at sea on debut over 1200m on the Classic course, but the manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. It must be noted that Ablaan has come out and won again since. The son of Vercingetorix would have gained from the experience and should enjoy the rise to the mile. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.

Race 6: SERGEI (3)
Jockey: W Kennedy – Trainer: P Peter

SERGEI set the pace in his last start, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Bureau Des Legende. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the son of Soft Falling Rain in his last three starts. He meets a similar type of field today and should be the one to side with.

Race 7: TEAM GOLD (6)
Jockey: M Yeni – Trainer: R Magner

TEAM GOLD showed good speed in his last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course but was outrun in the latter stages by Ultra Quick. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Twice Over gets the cheekpieces fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. He has shown that he has ability and may be the one to beat.

Race 8: FRONTLINE FIGHTER (4)
Jockey: W Kennedy – Trainer: P Peter

FRONTLINE FIGHTER followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish over this distance on the Classic course. He should have won that day as he hung from the 700m mark to the 400m mark. He meets a similar type of field this afternoon and if keeping on a straight line, he should be the one to beat.

Value Bet For Today

Race 5: WAQAAS (3)
Jockey: D de Gouveia – Trainer: F Habib

WAQAAS showed some signs of returning to best form in his last start under today’s pilot, Diego de Gouveia. He has finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. The 6yo gelding takes a drop in class today and can return to winning ways
