Race 1

BLUP BLUP has finished second in both her career efforts to date. She took the lead at the 200m mark last time, but was touched off by Striking Angel. She returns from a 13-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Twice Over gets the services of capable work rider Anathi Feni and she can go one better.

SAHARA DAWN ran a fair race against winners on debut over 1200m. She returns from a 22-week break which may have done her the world of good. If not in need of the run, she should pose a threat.

SOMEDAY MAYBE has fair recent form lines to her credit. She has finished third twice from three starts over this C&D. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

Race 2

GLAWARI’S last two starts on the Highveld have been decent. She stayed on to finish fourth over this distance at Turffontein last time. The daughter of What A Winter is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. In this field, she should give the males a run for their money.

INAFIX is better than his last start over 1160m. His three starts over 1000m prior to that outing were decent. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of him.

BOB has improved in his last two starts with the blinkers fitted. He was reported to be fatigued after his last outing. The son of William Longsword is a progressive type and must be included in all bets.

Race 3

MORE THAN ALL ran a fair race on debut over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She found outside betting support that day which suggests that she may have been showing good work at home. She returns from a 20-week break and is having her first run for the Tony Peter stable. The daughter of Captain Of All meets the right field today and if not in need of the run, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

SYLVAN LADY showed signs of needing her comeback run over this distance last time. It must be noted that Witblits as well as the third horse have come out and won since. She has plenty of scope and should strip much fitter.

DUCHESS OF SEVILLE is an unraced daughter of Duke Of Marmalade from the Brett Crawford stable with Kabelo Matsunyane in the saddle. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

Race 4

STORM BRASCO made the expected natural improvement when third over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. The son of Pathfork is a progressive type and should be the one to beat.

OKLAHOMA TWISTER ran on strongly when second over 1200m last time. The son of The United States will be at home over 1450m. He jumps from pole position and is one of the leading contenders.

SOCIAL SET is an unraced son of Gold Standard from the Stuart Pettigrew stable with Diego De Gouveia in the saddle. If not too green, he may start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 5

JET DYNASTY ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1800m at Turffontein. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He meets similar company this afternoon and can follow up.

LITTLE PRINCE rallied late when winning his last start over this C&D. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. The 5yo gelding is the stable elect with Denis Schwarz in the saddle and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.

VIVA BRAZIL finished 1.1 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. He has plenty of scope and cannot be ignored.

Race 6

SIBERIAN STEEL finished 1.1 lengths behind ESQUEVELLE last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is in a good space and if getting away to a clean start, he can notch up his fourth career victory.

ESQUEVELLE is in top form. He has won his last two starts over this C&D. Despite his big mass of 63.5kgs, he can notch up the hat-trick.

SECOND BREATH ran a fair race against stronger company in her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will assist her cause. If putting her best foot forward, she should be competitive.

Race 7

TROPPO VELOCE was not disgraced when fourth in the Grade 3 Carry On Alice Stakes last time. She lost a length leaving the start, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. If getting away to a good start, she should be the one to beat.

WOMAN OF POWER won a game race in her last start over this distance at Turffontein. She raced from a prominent position, found a good kick and won going away. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces. VIRGINIA BEACH finished 1 length behind the second selection last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

Race 8

LAW OF SUCCESS’ last start can be ignored as she was reported to be not striding out and coughing. She finished 0.75 lengths behind BEADED GOWN in her penultimate run and she is 1kg better off at the weights today. There should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. She is back against her own sex and may be the one to cause the upset.

INVENTRIX won a good race in her last start over this distance. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will help her chances. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

WAR QUEEN finished 1.8 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around
