Race 1

This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to the first-timers. BEATING WINGS is a daughter of Rafeef from the Stuart Pettigrew yard with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners including Stream Ahead and Zambezi Rapids. If not to green, she should start her career on a positive note.

LIKE A BUTTERFLY hails from the Sean Tarry stable and she is a daughter of William Longsword. She is related to four-time winner Love Bite. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and if not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.

SHINE IN MEMPHIS stayed on when third over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Oratorio will love the rise to 1400m and with luck in running, she should be the first raced runner past the post.

Race 2

POLICY OF TRUTH is better than his last start over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course. He returns from a 10-week break, during which time he was gelded. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last outing has come out and won since. He should have no issues with the rise to 1400m and if fit, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

ROCK OF BISMANTOVA ran a decent race on debut over this C&D. He returns from a 10-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and in this field, he should pose a massive threat.

NOBLE METAL was in need of his debut over 1200m on this course. The 15-week break would have given him the time to strengthen up. With a bit of luck in running, he can improve to finish in the placings.

Race 3

JUST NUISANCE has run four good races under Kaidan Brewer. He raced from a prominent position over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time and tried hard all the way to the line. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He jumps from draw three and may be rewarded for consistency.

REMAINS OF THE DAY has run two fair races to date. The son of Hat Puntano is bred to enjoy the step up to 1400m. He jumps from pole position and is one of the leading contenders in this line-up.

TAEGAN’S CHAMP is an unraced son of Gimmethegreenlight from the Fabian Habib stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. He is related to two-time winner Al Jahbath. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 4

BONIKA ran on from last when third over 1400m at Turffontein last time. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena has kept faith in the ride. If suited to the straight 1600m, she is capable of returning to winning ways.

ON THE HORIZON is unbeaten from two starts. She returns from a well-deserved 12-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Judpot looks to be above average and if not in need of the run, she can remain unbeaten.

MAGICAL FLIGHT has fair recent form lines to her credit. She finished 1.5 lengths behind NYALI BEACH in her penultimate run. She is 2.5kgs better off the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Piere Strydom takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 5

QUEEN BOMI ran a fair race in her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Standside course. She has won once, finished second four times and third once from 13 starts over this distance. The 6yo mare takes a drop-in class and with the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba, she may be the one to side with.

DANCING ARABIAN stayed on when third over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. Three of her four career victories have come over this distance. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SKYFULL stayed on when fifth over 1800m last time. She has won once, finished second three times and third twice from ten starts over this distance. She will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 6

ABSOLUTE VALUE has consistent form lines to his credit. He raced from a handy position over this trip at Turffontein last time, but found one too good in the form of Breeze Over. He has won twice, finished second three times and third twice from as many starts over this distance. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba which will help his chances.

GREENLIGHT MAGIC showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1800m on the Classic course. The removal of the tongue-tie seems to have done the trick. He runs well for Muzi Yeni and is one of the leading contenders.

LITTLE PRINCE is the stable companion of the top choice. He has finished second in his last two starts. He is carded to race on 16 November 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 7

HAPPY ANALIA raced from a prominent position over this distance at Turffontein last time and stayed on to finish fourth. She is back against her own sex and gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies. She is capable of returning to winning ways in this line-up.

BEADED GOWN was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She drops back in class and can follow up.

MIDNIGHT FUSION showed good speed over this distance on the Classic course last time, but was outrun late. She should strip much fitter and will have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 8

PAISLEY PARK ran a good race when third in his last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that Dyce has come out and won again since. He has won once and finished third twice from four starts on this course. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. He will be mowing down the frontrunners.

AUSSENKEHR was a tad disappointing in the Listed Golden Loom Handicap last time. He has won once, finished second twice and third twice from eight starts over this distance. He drops back in class and on previous form, he should pose a threat.

BLACK EGRET has good consistent form lines to his credit. He has won three times, finished second once and third twice from seven starts over this distance. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

Race 9

DUKE OF ROCK followed up his maiden victory with a fair fifth-place finish over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that Eiffel Tower has come out and won again since. The son of Duke Of Marmalade will love the drop to 1200m and the fitting of the blinkers may do the trick. Piere Strydom takes the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

AFTER HOURS ran on well when winning his last start over 1160m at Turffontein. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

AMPERSAND stayed on when fourth over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He takes a drop-in class and will be mowing down the frontrunners
