Race 1
This is a weak work riders Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is CITY LIGHTS from the Fanie Bronkhorst stable. She stayed on when third over 2000m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack last time. The daughter of Pomodoro is a battling maiden but she meets the right field and may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
PASS THE BATON has fair recent form lines to her credit. She finished third in her last start over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
PLUM BLOSSOM finished 4 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 2
MILO‘S MILLIONAIRE ran a fair race when taking on winners in her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She returns from a 19-week break and is having her first run this season. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has scope and if not in need of the outing, she can win.
SHESAROCKET is an unraced daughter of Captain Of All from the Tony Peter stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. If not too green in running, she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.
TOUCH OF HEAVEN is a daughter of Potala Palace from the Corne Spies yard with Marco van Rensburg doing duty. She is related to two-time winner Biofarmer. If not in need of this outing, she should give a good account of herself.
Race 3
TIGER STORM ran a good race when third over this distance on the Classic course last time. The son of Rafeef gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
BUSSTOPINHOUNSLOW‘S last four starts have been decent. It must be noted that multiple horses from his last form line have come out and won since. The son of New Predator has been gelded which may have done the trick.
BOURBON RESERVE ran a fair race on debut over 1160m at Turffontein. He returns from a 26-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of What A Winter should make the natural improvement.
Race 4
LEAR THE PATH has shown improvement in each of his outings to date. He would have come on from his last run and should strip much fitter. If getting away to a clean start, he can go one better.
DYLAN‘S CHAMP showed some signs of needing his comeback run over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course. The son of Rafeef should enjoy the extra 100m on offer. He jumps from a good draw of two and is one of the leading contenders.
ROBERT BROWNING finished 1.85 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. He will strip much fitter and can earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 5
KING OF VENUS finished 1.75 lengths behind WHAT A TIGER last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. The 6yo gelding is likely to race on the speed and he may be hard to peg back.
WHAT A TIGER showed good speed when winning his last start over 1000m on this course. He meets similar opposition this afternoon and with Piere Strydom retaining the ride, he can follow up.
THE NAVY LARK finished 2.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result. She won her only attempt over this C&D and cannot be ignored.
Race 6
PARISIAN WALKWAY is better than his last start in the Grade 1 World Pool Moment Of The Day Premiers Champion Stakes. The son of Ideal World returns from a 14-week break which would have done him the world of good. He won his only attempt over this C&D. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride on his return and if fit, he should take a power of beating.
CHAMPION WARRIOR won a good race in his last start over 1400m on this course. He received a five-pound penalty for that victory. Piere Strydom retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
DECEPTION PASS followed up his maiden win with an equally impressive victory over 1500m on this course. He takes another slight rise in class, but has confidence and can bring up the hat-trick.
Race 7
SAY IT WITH ROSES was a tad disappointing in her last start over 2000m on the Classic course. She returns from a 10-week break which may have done her the world of good. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. She takes a slight drop in class and if fit, can notch up her third-career victory.
I AM REGAL has good recent form lines to her credit. She set the pace over 2000m on the Turffontein Inside course last time before getting outrun late. The daughter of Canford Cliffs is likely to race on the speed and she may be hard to peg back.
ARIEL‘S JET has some good recent form lines to her credit. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this distance. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and the combination merit obvious inclusion.
Race 8
SNEAK PREVIEW may not have seen out the 2600m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She dead heated for first over 2000m on this course, in her penultimate run. She is back against her own sex and with luck in running, she should have a winning chance.
PLAY WITH FIRE got up late when winning her last start over 1600m on the Classic course. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. Calvin Habib retains the ride and she should be competitive.
PARTY PUNCH fought hard when second over this distance on the Classic course last time. She is back against her own sex and with a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should go one better
