Race 1

PEARL IN HER CROWN made the expected natural improvement when second in her last start over 1160m at Turffontein. The manner in which she ran on at the finish that day was eye-catching. It must be noted that Stars And Bra’s has come out and finished third in a Grade 3 since. The daughter of Soqrat will love the rise to the mile and she may be the one to side with.

PARISIAN WALKWAY produced a promising debut effort over 1160m at Turffontein. He jumped outwards leaving the start, but stayed on at the finish. The son of Ideal World would have gained from the experience and he should make the natural improvement.

SONIC JET has produced three decent efforts to date. She may have done too much too early last time and the blinkers have been quickly removed. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 2

LITTLE BALLERINA won a game race in her last start in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Nursery. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of Vercingetorix is the class horse in this race and she should take a power of beating.

IT’S HER WAY finished 10.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. Her form prior to that outing was decent. It is encouraging that Calvin Habib steps back into the saddle and she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

FORCE EIGHT ran a fair race in her last start over 1000m on the Classic course. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight steps up to 1200m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should go close.

Race 3

SHINTO SHRINE produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course. He was slow into stride, understandably raced green but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The son of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and he should love the extra 200m on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

GRAND CRESCENDO produced two moderate efforts in feature races in the Western Cape. He returns from a 15-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and in Maiden Company, he should have improvement to come.

ILHA DA ORANGE was disappointing in her last start over 1200m. Her penultimate run when third over this distance was fair. She has scope and can finish in the placings.

Race 4

OFFICER IN COMMAND was not disgraced when fifth in his last start over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this distance. He takes a slight drop in class and may be hard to peg back.

MAJESTIC PALACE won a good race in his last start over this distance on the Classic course. He received a five-pound penalty for that victory. He meets similar company this afternoon and merits healthy respect.

KING’S EXPRESS is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. He is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D and with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle, he can keep that record intact.

Race 5

SUKHUMVIT ran a good race when second in the Listed Ormond Ferraris Oaks Trial last time. She was slow into stride, but finished off her race nicely. It must be noted that Frances Ethel has come out and won a Grade 2 since. The daughter of Silvano carries a nice weight of 53.5kgs and she should give the males a run for their money.

MILLAHUE finished 1 length behind TOTAL SURRENDER last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He will strip a much fitter horse and is one of the leading contenders.

TOTAL SURRENDER won a game race in his last start over 1800m on the Classic course. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He is in a good space and merits obvious inclusion.

Race 6

MIA MOO stayed on when second in the Grade 3 Umzimkhulu Stakes last time. She will love the drop to 1200m. The daughter of Vercingetorix is the best-weighted runner in this contest and she can go one better.

MOUNT PILATUS ran a good race when fourth in the Non-Black Type Betway Mythical Flight Sprint last time. It must be noted that Dreamland has come out and won again since. He won his only attempt over this C&D and should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

CHASING HAPPINESS stayed on when fourth over 1160m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She will strip a much fitter horse today and must be included in all bets.

Race 7

RICHARD THE FIRST challenged strongly in his last start, but found one too good in the form of Dreamland who has come out and won again since. He has won once, finished second twice and third three times from seven starts over this distance. The son of William Longsword may be rewarded for consistency.

AUSSENKEHR stayed on when fourth over 1160m at Turffontein last time. He takes a drop in class and despite his big mass of 62kgs, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

BLACK EGRET showed good signs of a form return in the Listed In Full Flight Handicap last time. He has won three times, finished second once and third twice from eight starts over this distance. If confirming his recent improvement, he should be involved at the finish.

Race 8

WALLED GARDEN showed good improvement in his last start over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. He takes on weaker opposition this afternoon and if confirming his recent improvement, he should be the one to beat.

MOOLA MAN should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be switched for running room at the 400m mark. He takes a drop in class and if putting his best foot forward, he should run a big race.

WHORLY WHORLY has won four times and finished second twice from eight starts over this C&D. On best form shown, he should be involved at the finish
