Race 1

ALMOND SEA was super-impressive when winning on debut over 800m at Turffontein. She showed good speed, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Canford Cliffs is the only winner in this contest. She could be anything and should remain unbeaten.

IT’S HER WAY made the expected natural improvement when third in her last start over this C&D. She was reported to have cast a shoe in running. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is a progressive type and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

GOLDEN CHANDELIER finished 2 lengths behind the second selection last time. She should have finished closer that day as the saddle was reported to have slipped in running. The daughter of William Longsword can finish in the placings.

Race 2

MARAUDING HORDE is the best bet on the programme. He produced a promising debut effort over 1400m at Turffontein. The son of Vercingetorix was settled at the rear of the field that day and caught the eye in the straight. He would have come on from the run and should love the rise to the mile. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.

TARIME got going too late when second in his last start over this distance at Turffontein. The son of New Predator is a progressive type and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ROCK OF BISMANTOVA is better than his last start over 1400m. His penultimate run when third over this distance catches the eye. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena keeps faith in the ride and he can finish in the placings.

Race 3

KISSING MACHINE produced a promising debut effort over 1400m at Turffontein. She lost a length leaving the start, understandably raced green but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the run and she should love the rise to the mile. With a bit of luck in running, she can shed her maiden tag.

FRANCES ETHEL should have finished closer to the winner on debut as she hung in the final 300m. The daughter of Rafeef would have gained from the experience and with natural progression, she should fight out the finish.

SAY IT WITH ROSES has run two fair races to date. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last start has come out and won since. From pole position, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

EIFFEL TOWER has top consistent form lines to his name. He challenged strongly in his last start over this C&D, but found one too good in the form of Biofarmer. The son of Potala Palace takes a drop-in class and he should be the one to beat. He is carded to race on 18 January 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

WEATHER WIZARD rallied late when third over 1800m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He jumps from a good draw of two and merits healthy respect.

BOB’S YOUR UNCLE ran a fair race over 2000m last time. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts on this course. He tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand.

Race 5

This is a weak Merit Rated 68 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is NAZARE from the Candice Dawson stable. He returns from a 17-week break, which may have done him the world of good. He finished second in his only attempt on this course. It is encouraging that Piere Strydom rides on his return and he can win a race of this nature.

FULLIAUTOMATIX showed good speed over 1160m at Turffontein last time, but was caught late. He won his penultimate start over this C&D. He is in a good space and may be hard to peg back.

GIMME THE FLAME stayed on when second in her last start over 1600m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack. She carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and with luck in running, she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 6

MY LADY SOUL ran on from last when second in her last start over 1400m at Turffontein. The daughter of Master Of My Fate takes a slight drop-in class and if not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should notch up her second-career victory.

MISS HANNIGAN ran a fair race in her last start over 1200m on this course. She has been facing stronger and takes a drop-in class. The daughter of Canford Cliffs tries the 1450m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should pose a threat.

COURAGEOUS was an easy winner when shedding her maiden tag over this C&D last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She does take on stronger, but has scope and should give a good account of herself.

Race 7

VIX PRINCESS followed up her maiden win with an impressive victory over 1400m in her first run for the Tony Peter stable. She raced from a handy position, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. The daughter of Vercingetorix carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and is the stable elect with Calvin Habib in the saddle. She can notch up the hat-trick.

WHAT A HONEY challenged strongly in her last start, but was touched off by Paton’s Tears. She won her only attempt over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

RUNWAY BOMB is the stable companion of the top selection. She has top consistent form lines to her credit and the 11-week break would have done her the world of good. If not in need of the run, she should be competitive.

Race 8

KARANGETANG showed some signs of a form return in the Grade 3 Betway Lebelo Sprint last time. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Erupt is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. On best form shown, he should be the one to beat.

ICE STAR has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. She tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand.

MOONSHININGTHROUGH ran a fair race in the Grade 3 New Turf Carriers Merchants last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She tries the blinkers and should give a good account of herself.

Race 9

WAR QUEEN showed good speed over this C&D last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Happy Analia. The daughter of Act Of War meets a similar line-up this afternoon and she can go one better. She is carded to race on 18 January 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

MIDNIGHT FUSION finished 0.35 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the wire. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of her where it matters most.

LAW OF SUCCESS took the lead at the 500m mark last time, but was outrun late by Wings Within Me. She finished 0.35 lengths behind the top selection in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms and there should not be much separating them at the wire
