Cape Town City

After 5 matches City are still looking for their first win of the new season. They have drawn their last 2, most recently 1-1 at home to Stellenbosch in a local derby which came on the back of another home fixture against Maritzburg which finished without a goal.

City started their season with a 2-0 home defeat to Sundowns, they also lost 3-2 at Swallows and 2-1 at Amazulu.

Kaizer Chiefs

Is the glass half full or half empty for Chiefs? They have played 4 matches, winning 2 and losing 2 and they occupy a mid table position on a congested log.

A Solomons penalty, the only goal of the game, was enough to inflict a first defeat on newly promoted Richards Bay last weekend, a decent result given Chiefs played an hour or so with 10 men.

Prior to that they were thumped 4-0 by Sundowns at Loftus whilst an earlier home game against Maritzburg finished 3-0 in Chiefs favour. An opening round visit to Royal AM saw Chiefs go down 1-0 so they are still looking for their first points away from home.

Recent Head to Head

The first of last season's league meetings finished 0-0 in Cape Town and City won the return 2-1 away from home.

Strangely for this league, 6 of the last 8 PSL head to heads have seen at least 3 goals scored in total.

The Betting

In the early betting Cape Town City are trading at around 19/10 to win the game with the draw at 19/10 and Kaizer Chiefs can be backed at around 1.55/1

A game of 3 goals or more is 14/10 and it's even money for both teams to score.

The Verdict

This is the third consecutive home game for City and they must be feeling the pressure to get that elusive first win. They did raise their game to some degree against Stellies and now take on a Chiefs side who have blown hot and cold with a number of youngsters in their squad,

As the match result betting suggests this looks wide open and it's a tricky call but slight preference is for the goals markets.

Although there is a recent history of plenty goals when these sides have met over the last 4 seasons, Chiefs have yet to score in 2 road trips and City have only found the net once in 3 home games. I will take my chances with no more than 1 goal in the game but it's a tentative call at best.

Bet: Total goals under 1.5 at 15/10 with Betway
