champs.leagueThe final of the Uefa Champions League will be contested by PSG and Bayern Munich in Lisbon on Sunday night and the German side start as the bookmakers favourites.

PSG

PSG sealed their place in the final against German opposition earlier this week. They were paired with RB Leipzig in the semi's, a side who had finished a distant third to Bayern in this season's Bundesliga title race. PSG got the job done in comfortable fashion, coming out on top 3-0. Marquinhos gave them a 13th minute lead, De Maria made 2-0 just before half time and Bernat added a third on 56 minutes.

Earlier in these play offs there was late drama in PSG's quarter final match up with Atalanta. They were even money favourites to win the game but were 1-0 down from the 26th minute until the death. Heading into injury time Marquinhos equalized and 3 minutes late PSG were 2-1 up thanks to Choupo-Moting.

Before lockdown PSG breezed through the group stage with 5 wins and 1 draw to top the quartet ahead of Real Madrid with Club Brugge and Galatasaray third and fourth. They lost the first leg of their Round of 16 clash with Dortmund 2-1 away from home but turned things around with a 2-0 win in Paris.

The Ligue 1 season never returned from lockdown when PSG were 12 points clear of Marseille.

Bayern Munich

Bayern secured an equally comfortable result in their semi final match up with Lyon, a side who had knocked Juventus and Manchester City out in the previous 2 rounds of play offs. Bayern's 3-0 win came courtesy of a first half double from Gnabry and a late goal from Lewandowski.

Bayern had been pitched against Barcelona in the quarter finals and they rattled up the goals with the final score clocking in at a jaw dropping 8-2. Their goals came from Müller (2),Perisic, Gnabry, Kimmich,Lewandowski and Coutinho (2) in an amazing show of dominance.

Bayern still boast a 100% record in the Champions League this season and the goals continue to flow. They have found the net 42 times in 10 UCL matches including a 7-1 aggregate win over Chelsea in the Round of 16. Bayern also coasted to the Bundesliga title and recently won the DFB Pokal, beating Leverkusen 4-2 in the final.

Recent Head to Head

The most recent meetings in the Champions League came in the 2017 group stage when PSG won 3-0 in Paris and Bayern won 3-1 in Munich.

The Betting

PSG can be backed at around 23/10 to win in 90 minutes with the draw available at 3/1 and you should find odds of around even money for Bayern to win in regulation time.

As far as the goals markets are concerned it's 7/20 for both sides to find the net in 90 minutes, the same price for over 2.5 goals and its 9/10 for over 3.5 goals in total.

To lift the trophy via any method PSG are 29/20 and Bayern are 11/20.

Verdict:

I expect goals here and so do the bookmakers so I'm looking deep into the exotics for a headline betting interest in my usual odds range and a chance is taken on both halves seeing at least 2 goals scored.

For a more speculative play I'll nibble at 2-2 in the correct score market. I believe that Bayern are the right favourites but PSG have plenty riding on this having been absent from a major European final for some time. At odds in the region of 37/4 I don't mind parting with some beer money.

Finally an anytime goalscorer pick and whilst the likes of Lewandoski, Gnabry, Neymar and Mbappe head the market one man capable of popping up a touch under the radar is Bayern's Ivan Perisic

90 Minute Bets: Both halves over 1.5 goals? (yes) at 41/20

Correct Score 2-2 at 37/4

Anytime goalscorer Perisic at 5/2
