BettingDiaryDespite the cancellation of two Rugby World Cup matches we have a busy sporting weekend ahead of us and we take a closer look at some of the betting highlights in our Weekend Diary.

RUGBY WORLD CUP

There is plenty of discussion on Social Media about the decision of World Rugby to abandon the England v France and New Zealand v Italy matches due to the typhoon. This leaves just the Ireland v Samoa match on Saturday and Ireland are firm favourites here at (-27.5).

We have a full preview up in the betting blog, click here to read the Ireland v Samoa Preview

The Group Stages come to an end on Sunday and there are 4 matches scheduled although all the talk is just about the Japan v Scotland game which is not guaranteed to go ahead. Assuming it is abandoned Japan will go through top of the log and Scotland will be eliminated. The current betting has seen Japan drift slightly from 12/10 to 14/10, Scotland 8/11 to win the game.

The other match we are very interested in on Sunday is Namibia v Canada and an early kick off at 05:15 South African time. Canada were originally firm favourites for this game, but all the money has come for Namibia who now start narrow 9/10 favourites with Canada on offer at 21/10 and the draw at 22/1.

There is also plenty of Pro 14 Rugby action this weekend including the Southern Kings v Ulster with the Southern Kings underdogs here at (+8.5)points.

Other Rugby action this weekend includes the Mitre 10 Cup and Top 14 in France.

FOOTBALL

A host of Euro 2020 Qualifiers this weekend and a game we are looking forward to is Wales v Croatia on Sunday where the Welsh are 2/1, Croatia are 29/20 and the draw at 22/10.

This should be a tight affair and we fancy both teams to score at current odds of 8/10.

CYCLING

The last big monument of the season takes place on Saturday in Italy with the tough Il Lombardia getting going at 10:30 South African time.

Primoz Roglic, the Vuelta Espana winner is the 28/10 favourite ahead of Michael Woods 11/2 and multiple winner Alejandro Valverde at 11/2.

FORMULA ONE

The Japanese Grand Prix takes place this weekend and like the rugby there is a danger that it gets effected by the Typhoon and we have already had some practises postponed.

Lewis Hamilton is the ruling favourite at 29/20 ahead of Charles Leclerc 49/20 and Sebastian Vettel sitting at 21/4.

HORSE RACING

There is Local Horse Racing at Turffontein and Durbanville on Saturday with Turffontein getting off at 12:55 with the 9th and final race at 17:40 and Durbanville starting at 13:45 with the 8th and final race at 17:55

At Turffontein, Queen Supreme 6/10 favourite in Race 6 will be a popular Pick Six banker and at Durbanville we like Horse No. 3 Rosalie Runs in the 7th race currently priced at 9/2.

Sunday’s Race Meeting takes place at the Greyville Race Track, an 8 race card set to get going at 13:20 and finishing at 17:25.

There is no obvious Pick Six banker and it could pay to go wide wherever possible although we would consider taking a chance in the first leg with Retail Therapy currently 2/1 as a banker.
