The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas is the latest stop on the Formula 1 calendar and we take a look at Sunday’s race from a betting angle

Max Verstappen completed the clean sweep of Winning Driver, Fastest Lap and Pole Position in the Qatar Grand Prix and another World Championship is now well and truly wrapped up.

Oscar Piastri chased Verstappen home finishing just under 5 seconds behind, with Lando Norris completing the podium.

CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE

Verstappen is now over 200 points clear of his teammate, Sergio Perez with Lewis Hamilton a further 30 points back in 3^rd. Perez is still the 1/4 favourite in the “Winner without Verstappen” market with Hamilton 28/10 in what looks a 2-horse race.

Perez is certainly struggling with his form and I wouldn’t discount a late run from Lewis Hamilton to make the 2^nd place a real contest over the coming weeks.

UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX

Lewis Hamilton has won the United States Grand Prix 6 times, but Max Verstappen won in 2021 and 2022 and goes for a hat trick.

Last year the Ferrari’s of Sainz Jnr and Leclerc started on the front row of the grid, but it was Max Verstappen who stormed through to win the race ahead of Hamilton and Leclerc. George Russell finished 5^th, but got the fastest lap.

VERDICT

All signs point to a Max Verstappen win, but at 1/4 I just can’t back him and I am going to be looking at the other markets for a betting interest.

Suggested Bet: George Russell, Fastest Lap at 14/1

Russell got the fastest lap here in 2022 and he is driving well at the moment and this certainly looks a decent price for him to go back-to-back in this market.

Suggested Bet: Lance Stroll Points Finish at 15/10

Stroll was regularly amongst the points earlier in the season, but it has been 5 Grand Prix’s since he delivered on this bet. In that time he has had two 11th place finishes which included last time out in Qatar. He hasn’t had the best of luck so I am hoping things will roll his way at the Circuit of the Americas.
