NETHERLANDS

Netherlands are currently 8th in the tournament, losing 2 and winning 1 of their matches.

On Tuesday in Dharamsala, the Netherlands faced South Africa in a rain shortened 43-over game. South Africa won the toss and chose to field. The Netherlands struggled early, losing 4 wickets with just 50 runs on the board. Scott Edwards, batting at number 7, turned the game around by scoring 78 runs off 69 deliveries, including 10 fours. His impressive performance contributed significantly to the Netherlands' total of 245 runs.

The Netherlands opened with their spinners to pressure the Proteas during the Powerplay and most of their bowlers posed a threat. They kept South Africa under pressure taking regular wickets eventually securing a 38-run victory. Logan van Beek claimed 3 wickets for 60 runs in 8.5 overs, with solid support from Roelof van Der Merwe, who took 2 wickets at an economical rate of 3.78 runs per over.

SRI LANKA

Sri Lanka are currently last on the log, losing all 3 of their matches so far.

Sri Lanka faced Australia on Monday in Lucknow, winning the toss and opting to bat first. They got off to a great start, losing their first wicket with 125 runs on the board. However, their performance declined from that point and the remaining batsmen could only manage to add 84 runs. Kusal Perera was the standout performer, scoring 78 with 12 fours.

Sri Lanka showed fight in the field, capturing 2 crucial, early Australian wickets. The Australian batsmen proved too strong though, chasing down the target in 35.2 overs and securing a 5-wicket victory. Dilshan Madushanka delivered the best bowling figures for the team, taking 3 wickets for 38 runs in his 9-over spell.

Netherlands (3/1)

Sri Lanka (1/4)

HEAD-TO-HEAD

These sides have only met 5 times in history in the ODI format, with the first game being in 2002 and the most recent was this year in the World Cup qualifiers. Sri Lanka have won all 5 of these matches and the latest match ended in a 128-run win over the Netherlands.

Suggested Bet: Sri Lanka Top Bowler – Dilshan Madushanka at 24/10

Dilshan is consistently good and is also in cracking form. I think the Netherlands batsman will find him a handful.

Suggested Bet: Bowler Total Match Wickets – Roelof Van Der Merwe over 1.5 at 14/10

Roelof is a very consistent bowler in the Netherlands roster and he has taken 2 wickets in 2 of his 3 World Cup matches so far and I am backing him to deliver once again.
