BettingDiaryAfter a short break the local football season is back and we take a look at the 4 MTN8 matches taking place this weekend and suggest a bet in each.

TSHAKHUMA v SUPERSPORT UNITED – Click here to bet

If you are scratching your head and wondering who Tshakhuma are, they were a National First Division side that has bought out Bidvest Wits. Their start to the season has been rocky as their coach has left them and they are currently getting trained by the Technical Director. Only a couple of the Wits players have moved across to the Venda based outfit.

SuperSport United were 5th in the PSL last season and they won 3 and lost 2 of their last 5 games, but ended the season strongly with consecutive victories. They are also the defending MTN8 Champions beating Highlands Park 1-0 in the Final last season.

BETTING

Tshakhuma 5/2

Draw 12/5

SuperSport United 1/1

Suggested Bet: SuperSport win at 1/1

Tshakhuma appear to be disjointed and I don’t think home ground advantage will be enough to swing this one their way.

PIRATES v CAPE TOWN CITY – Click here to bet

Pirates finished 3rd on the log a distant 7 points behind Sundowns and having been on a good run they failed to win either of their last two matches. They face Cape Town City who had 3 wins and 2 losses in their last 5 matches of the season and ended up finishing 6th.

Both of these sides lost home matches at the quarter-final stage of this Tournament last season and they failed to progress to the semi-finals.

BETTING

Pirates 11/10

Draw 23/10

Cape Town City 5/2

Suggested Bet: Pirates win at 11/10

This should be another tight game, but I was left feeling that Pirates under-performed last season and I am hoping they can get this one off to a flying start.

KAIZER CHIEFS v MARITZBURG UNITED – Click here to bet

Kaizer Chiefs may still be getting over the heartbreak of losing the League to Sundowns on the last day of the season. Chiefs limped to the final match winning only once in their last 5 games. They face Maritzburg United who ended the season with 3 straight draws and those are the only points they took in their last 5 matches of the season.

Betting:

Kaizer Chiefs 15/20

Draw 12/5

Maritzburg United 7/2

Suggested Bet: The draw at 12/5

Chiefs look worthy favourites here, but I think they are a bit short based on a name more than recent performance and I think there will be very little separating these sides.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS v BLOEM CELTIC – Click here to bet

Sundowns looked down and out shortly after the COVID-19 break, but they fought back strongly with 4 wins in their last 5 matches to snatch the League Title from Kaizer Chiefs.

Bloemfontein Celtic were the final side to qualify for this event and while they didn’t lose any of their last 5 matches, their last 4 matches finished in draws. They actually scored the same number of goals, 43, as Sundowns did last season, but where Sundowns conceded 22, Bloem Celtic conceded 39.

These sides met in the quarter-final stage last season with Sundowns winning 3-1 at home, coming from behind to win the match.

Betting:

Sundowns 8/11

Draw 26/10

Bloem Celtic 7/2

Suggested Bet: Sundowns win at 8/11

This could be a game where we may see goals and you would probably get a big price on over 2.5 goals closer to kick-off. Celtic are good going forward, but do tend to leak at the back and Sundowns should be too strong.

Note: All prices correct at the time of writing but are subject to change
