Stage 20 of the Vuelta a España is the longest of the entire race at 207.8 kilometres and while there are no massive climbs it has a classics feel to it with a number of Cat 3 climbs along the way and we take a look at the stage from a betting angle.
STAGE 19 WRAP
Alberto Dainese delivered his best sprint of the Tour to win the 19th stage ahead of Filippo Ganna who showed once again that he can mix it with the top sprinters. Marijn Van Den Berg finished 3rd and our pick for this stage, Kaden Groves unfortunately crashed so we never got to see what he could do.
JERSEY UPDATE
There were no changes to the Jersey Classifications and Sepp Kuss still holds a 17 second lead over his teammate, Vingegaard with Primoz Roglic 1 minute 8 seconds behind him.
Remco Evenepoel has already wrapped up the King of the Mountains Jersey. Kaden Groves who took points out on the road, but now leads Remco Evenepoel by what should be an unassailable 53 points.
Juan Ayuso is 3.37 ahead of his closest rival in the White Jersey Youth competition and Jumbo-Visma lead the Team competition by over half-an-hour.
Sepp Kuss is now a 1/25 favourite to win his first ever Grand Tour.

THE ROUTE
This route has a real classics feel to it and Sepp Kuss can be pleased that it is his teammates who are his closest rivals as had this been a tight GC contest we could have seen some real action and an ambush or two on a day like this.
As it happens Jumbo-Visma will likely ride defensively staying together and making sure that they don’t let anybody who is dangerous into the breakaway. It is the sort of stage where you have to be attentive and a loss of concentration at a key moment can see you finding yourself in big trouble.

PREDICTION
There are a number of teams who will dictate how this stage goes and whether or not the breakaway gets chased down. On the one hand I would expect Jumbo-Visma to ride defensively to protect Kuss’s lead, but at the same time this looks a good fit for Roglic and they may well ride to bring it all back together to allow him to sprint for the win.
There doesn’t seem to be much ambition amongst the other General Classification riders or teams although we can expect a battle between Ayuso and Landa at some point as they wrestle for 4th place.
Remco Evenepoel will have freedom as he is not a threat to General Classification given his current form he looks a worthy favourite for this race, at 12/10 I just can’t have him though and I am going to put my money on Jumbo-Visma bringing this all back together and Primoz Roglic to get the win at current odds of 20/1
Suggested Bet: Primoz Roglic win at 20/1
