Race 1
TRES CHIC was touched off in her last start over this C&D. She set the pace, fought hard but found one too good in the form of School Policy. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is likely to adopt the same tactics from the widest draw and may be hard to peg back.
QUICK TRIP finished 1.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter.
TEQUILA SKY showed speed over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Japanese Rose. She jumps from a handy draw of four and is one of the leading contenders
Race 2
LICKETY SPLIT has finished second in her last three starts. She should have finished closer to the winner that day as she had to be switched for running room at the 200m mark. With a bit of luck in running, she should go one better.
TIME FOR LOVE set the pace over this C&D last time, but was outrun late. She gets the services of Richard Fourie which is encouraging. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GRANDIOSA finished 7.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 6.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe.
Race 3
NAUSHON’S last four starts have been good. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was switched for running room at the 200m mark. He has finished second four times and third once from as many starts over this C&D. He has cracked a good draw of three and may be rewarded for consistency.
FLASH LIGHTNING stayed on when third over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He is having his peak run today and should run another good race.
APACHE CHIEF finished 1.1 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 4kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter.
Race 4
STORM BOULEVARD set the pace over 1800m last time, but was caught late by Avignon. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The son of William Longsword steps back up to 2000m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may be hard to peg back.
WEATHER KING stayed on when third over this C&D last time. He finished 4.45 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today. Aldo Domeyer is booked to ride which is encouraging.
YZERFONTEIN finished 2.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today which is enough to turn the form around.
Race 5
EXCEEDER set the pace over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Priceless. The 6yo gelding meets similar company this afternoon and if putting his best foot forward, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
GENTLEMAN JOE raced from a handy position over 1600m last time, moved up well but was caught late by Right Royal Mo. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. He is one of the leading contenders.
AVIGNON won a game race when shedding his maiden tag over 1800m on this course. He tries the 2000m for the first time. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie has kept faith in the ride and he can show.
Race 6
BONANZA finished 1.25 lengths behind WORDSWORTH last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He has won once and finished second three times from five starts over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse today and can go one better.
WORDSWORTH won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He received a five- pound penalty for that victory. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and merits healthy respect.
WILLIAM WEST finished 1.65 lengths behind the second choice in the race referred to above. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 7
ROD THE MOD was not disgraced when sixth in the Listed Southeaster Sprint last time. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. He takes a drop-in class and from his good draw of four, he may be hard to peg back.
BLUFF ON BLUFF stayed on when second behind October Morn last time. He finished 2 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
ICY BLAST finished 0.1 lengths behind the second selection in his last start. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter.
Race 8
OPEN HIGHWAY was in need of his local debut over 1000m on this course. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. The son of Var takes a drop-in class and Aldo Domeyer is booked to ride. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
HARD WINTER ran on strongly when winning his last start over this C&D. He is the stable elect with Luyolo Mxothwa in the saddle. The son of What A Winter takes a rise in class, but he is lightly raced and has plenty of scope.
MASKED VIGILANTE finished 0.4 lengths behind FORT RED last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned
