SUMMER SNOW was in need of his debut effort over 1000m on this course. He showed pace that day but weakened in the closing stages. Aldo Domeyer is booked to ride which is encouraging. The son of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and over 1200m, he should make the natural improvement.
BANK STREET finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice on debut. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
GIMMETHEGOODLIFE showed some improvement in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is a progressive type and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he may have more to come.
Race 2
RAMA FORCESA showed very good improvement in his last start over 1000m on this course. He showed good speed that day but was caught late by African Prince. The gelding seems to have done the trick. Richard Fourie retains the ride and if seeing out the extra furlong on offer, he should go one better.
BOMBER BAY finished 3.5 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
UNSUNG HERO showed good improvement in his last start over 1000m on this course. The son of Master Of My Fate is a progressive type and if seeing out the 1200m, he should have more to come.
Race 3
LION RAMPART stayed on when fourth in the Grade 3 City Of Cape Town Cape Of Good Hope Nursery last time. The son of One World meets the right field this afternoon. He is a horse with ability and should notch up his second-career victory.
ALL IS GREEN finished 1.65 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
SOUTHERN EXPRESS is an unraced son of Buffalo Bill Cody from the Candice Bass-Robinson stable with Anthony Andrews in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Big Burn and Catch Twentytwo. If not in need of this outing, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers in this contest.
Race 4
ICE RAIN has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She has finished second three times and third once from five starts over this distance. The daughter of Vercingetorix meets the right field this afternoon and she can shed her maiden tag.
PRETTY PRECIOUS’ last three starts have been good. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. The daughter of Potala Palace tries the 1400m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should pose a threat.
CHARLOTTE BRONTE showed some improvement in her last start over 1200m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is a progressive type and should love the extra furlong on offer. She has scope and may have more to come.
Race 5
LICKETY SPLIT finished 0.25 lengths behind ENGLISH MISTRESS last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. She has cracked a good draw of three and if jumping on terms, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
ENGLISH MISTRESS was running on when second over this C&D last time. It is encouraging that Aldo Domeyer steps back into the saddle and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
LUCKY THIRTEEN finished 2 lengths behind the second selection in the race referred to above. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 6
MISS MARGUERITE ran a fair race in the Grade 3 SplashOut Prix Du Cap last time. Her penultimate run when fifth in the Listed Pongracz Olympic Duel Stakes over this C&D was encouraging. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
DISTINCTION got up late after losing two lengths leaving the start last time. She has won once and finished second three times from seven starts over this C&D. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
UNCONQUERABLE LADY has finished third in her last three starts. She was unlucky not to have won last time as the saddle was reported to have slipped in running. The daughter of Danon Platina is likely to race on the speed and she may be hard to peg back.
Race 7
DANCE VARIETY moved up like a winner last time, but was outrun late by Winter Cloud. The son of Var is holding his form well. Corne Orffer retains the ride and he should notch up his fifth-career victory.
ICY BLAST finished 2.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and if not in need of the run, he should pose a threat.
RIO QUERARI finished 2 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.
Race 8
PALO QUEEN finished 0.75 lengths behind EASY MONEY last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. She has won once, finished second four times and third twice from 16 starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie retains the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
EASY MONEY ran a good race when third in her last start over this C&D. The blinkers seem to have done the trick. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
WORDSWORTH’S last two starts have been good. The 6-year-old gelding is in a good space and he should earn another cheque for his patrons
