Race 1 

This is a weak work riders Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is BLAZING BEAUTY from the Tony Peter stable. She was in need of her debut effort over this distance at the Vaal. She would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat in this field. 

WINTER MIRACLE showed some improvement in her last start over this C&D. The daughter of What A Winter is a progressive type and may have more to come. 

BILINGUAL finished 0.3 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. 

Race 2

GOLDEN ALEXIA has produced two good runs to date. She was running on when second over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course last time. The daughter of Pomodoro will love the rise to 1600m and she should give the males a run for their money. 

DYLAN‘S CHAMP has finished second in his last four starts. Piere Strydom is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the wide draw without using up too much energy and he may be hard to peg back. 

COUNT HUHTIKUU showed good improvement when 1 length behind the second choice last time. The son of Royal Mo will love the extra distance on offer and he can go close. 

Race 3

TWELVE OCLOCK HIGH was an easy winner in his last start over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course. He set the pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is a horse with ability and may be the one to side with. 

DON‘T CRY FOR ME ran a fair race in the Non-Black Type WSB Heritage Consolation last time. Piere Strydom steps back into the saddle and on best form shown, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot. 

BUSSTOPINHOUNSLOW won his last start easier than the official margin suggests. The son of New Predator is above average and would not be a shock winner. 

Race 4

GERBERA stayed on when fourth in a competitive maiden field over 1160m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of One World will love the rise to 1600m and she should be the one to beat. 

CHERRY OH BABY stayed on when second over 1400m at the Vaal last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

LACEWING was her own worst enemy over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time as she over raced in the early stages. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. If switching off early, she can show.

 

 

Race 5

DESTINY OF FIRE ran a good race when third over 1400m on this course last time. She drops back in class and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, she may be the one to beat. 

PRINCESS ILARIA was running on when third over 1500m on the Vaal Classic course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She finished second in her only C&D attempt and merits healthy respect. 

MOCHA MACAROON got going too late when second in her post maiden effort over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She is in a good space and cannot be ignored. 

Race 6

CONFEDERATE is lightly raced with top form lines to his credit. He was running on when second in the Non-Black Type WSB Heritage Consolation last time. He won his only attempt over this C&D when shedding his maiden tag. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and he may be the one to beat. 

WHAFEEF ran a good race when second over 2000m on the Vaal Classic course last time. Two of his five career victories have come over this distance. He is in a good space and must be included in all bets. 

SOLDIER‘S EYE is better than her last start in the Listed 4Racing War Of Athena Handicap. She will love the drop back to 1600m and should give the males a run for their money. 

Race 7

QUEEN OF LOVE stumbled leaving the start last time and is better than that outing. She has won once and finished second twice from four starts on this course. Her last victory came under Piere Strydom and if jumping on terms, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure. 

TWOSTEP QUEEN stayed on when third over 1800m at the Vaal last time. The daughter of Potala Palace is a gutsy type and may be hard to peg back. 

VISIONOFPEACE was a tad disappointing over 2000m last time. She will enjoy the drop to 1600m and would not be a shock winner on best form shown. 

Race 8

DOITWITHDIAMONDS was a tad disappointing in her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She finished second in her penultimate run over this C&D. She drops back in class and should give the males a run for their money. 

DJ JUNIOR ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1800m on the Inside course. He won his only attempt over this C&D. Gavin Lerena rides on his return which is encouraging. 

WILLOW EXPRESS is better than his last two starts. Two of his seven career victories have come over this distance. His last win came under Piere Strydom and he cannot be ignored
