Winning Form selections for @Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday 2nd January where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter Punters Challenge
Race 1
RIVER DANCE’S last three starts have been fair. He raced from a handy position over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, but did not go on with the effort. The drop to 1200m will suit and in this field, he can shed his maiden tag.
HIGHER LOVE should have finished closer to the winner last time as his pilot dropped his crop at the 150m mark. He finished 0.05 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights and there should not be much separating the pair.
BRING THE MAGIC is better than his last two starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. He finished third in his only attempt on this course and can show.
Race 2
ROY’S GRACE ran on well when second over 1400m on the turf last time. The daughter of Time Thief should be ideally suited to this distance. Raymond Danielson retains the ride and in this field, she should shed her maiden tag.
BAO LA raced from a handy position over this distance last time and stayed on to finish third. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
SHESAROCKET is having her first run for the Stuart Ferrie stable. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. If settled into her new surroundings, there should be improvement to come.
Race 3
EL CAPITAN was his own worst enemy over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time as he over raced in the early stages. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He tries the polytrack and 1800m for the first time. If all goes according to plan, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
FREDDY SLATER is better than his last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss. He returns from an 11-week break, during which time he was gelded. If not in need of the run, he should go close. THE WOLF has fair form lines to his credit. He will love the rise to 1800m and would not be a shock winner.
Race 4
QUEEN AMINA followed up her maiden victory with a creditable second-place finish over 1900m on the turf. She raced from a handy position, but found one too good in the form of She’s A Bomber who has come out and won again since. She has plenty of scope and Craig Zackey steps back into the saddle. From her good draw of two, she may be the one to beat.
OFF LIMITS should have finished closer to the winner last time. She gets the blinkers fitted which should keep her mind on the task at hand. She is one of the leading contenders from pole position.
SASCHA’S DREAM ran a good race when second over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts on this course. She must be included in all bets.
Race 5
BRASS BELL’S last three starts have been fair. He finished 0.35 lengths behind PORFIRIO last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. Five of his seven career victories have come over this distance. On best form shown, he should be competitive.
PORFIRIO has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He is likely to race on the speed from barrier two and may be hard to peg back.
MAC HARDY ran on from last over this distance on the turf last time. If not too far out of his ground in this contest, he should feature.
Race 6
GORGEOUS DUDE showed good signs of a form return over this distance on the turf last time. He lost a length leaving the start, but stayed on at the finish. If jumping on terms, he may be the one to beat in this field.
TEEREX ran a fair race over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. He is carded to race on 19 January 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
PURPLE POWAHOUSE ran a fair race over 1200m on this course last time. He has finished second twice and third three times from seven starts over this C&D. The 8yo gelding is a solid back up for the Alyson Wright stable.
Race 7
PURPLE FLOWER has good recent form lines to her credit. She lost a length leaving the start over 1400m last time and ran on well to finish second. Both her career victories have come on this course. If getting away to a clean start, she should be the one to beat.
QUENTASIA lacked extra late over this distance on the turf last time. She finished 0.25 lengths behind SWEET JULIA in her penultimate run. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
SWEET JULIA was running on when fourth over 1000m on the turf last time. She drops back in class and despite her big mass of 61kgs, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
WINTER WAVES was running on when third over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has won twice, finished second twice and third twice from nine starts over this distance. Apprentice Damyan Pillay takes the 4kgs off his back and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.
VOLDEMORT finished 0.6 lengths behind his stable companion last time. He is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
GODSPEED was outrun late when second over 1400m at Turffontein last time. Her last victory came over this distance and if all went well with her travels, she should give the males a run for their money
