Race 1
GORGEOUS KLEIN ran a good race when second in his first run for the Tony Peter stable. He found one too good in the form of One More that day. The son of One World would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Calvin Habib retains the ride and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
LEAD THE CHARGE showed good improvement when second in his last start over 1400m on this course. He set the pace but found one too good in the form of Moonlight Trader. The son of Lancaster Bomber is a progressive type and may have more to come.
ILHA DA ORANGE has produced two fair efforts to date. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade should enjoy the drop back to 1200m and she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 2
GIMMEALIGHT showed some signs of a form return in her last start over 1450m on the Classic course. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has dropped in the ratings and she takes a drop in class. Kabelo Matsunyane is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
NATIONAL STAR finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
MISS HANNIGAN was an easy winner of her last start over 1450m on the Classic course. She received the maximum eight-pound penalty for that victory. She takes a rise in class but is in a good space and should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 3
DECEPTION PASS has produced three good runs to date. He was his own worst enemy over 1700m last time as he over raced in the early stages. The son of Ideal World will enjoy the drop to 1400m. He will strip a much fitter horse today and in this field, he can shed his maiden tag.
THE CANE TRAIN was in need of his debut effort over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. The son of William Longsword would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
SECRET CHORD has consistent form lines to his credit. It must be noted that multiple horses from his last form line have come out and won since. The son of Bezrin will be staying on at the business end.
Race 4
OLIVIA’S WAY has produced two encouraging runs to date. She was doing her best work late when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of Pathfork is a progressive type and she should have more to come.
KYLIE’S ANGEL is having her first run for the Tony Peter stable. She is a progressive type and is coming along the right way. If not in need of the run, she should pose a threat.
VILLA SEMAYA raced from a handy position over 1450m last time, moved up but was caught late by Free In Seattle. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
EMPRESS GAME stayed on at the finish over 1450m on the Classic course last time but found one too good in the form of Miss Hannigan. The daughter of Pathfork should love the rise to 1500m. S’manga Khumalo steps back into the saddle and she may be the one to side with.
SECRET RECIPE finished 3.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned.
COUNT YOUR CHANCES ran on from last when winning her last start over 1450m on the Classic course. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. She carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and must be included in all bets.
Race 6
ON CUE ran a good race when third over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She has won twice, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this C&D. The daughter of Oratorio is having her peak run today and she is the stable elect with Philasande Mxoli in the saddle. She can notch up her sixth-career victory.
WHITE HILLS is better than her last start against stronger company. She finished 2.25 lengths behind LAW OF SUCCESS in her penultimate run. She is 6.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
LAW OF SUCCESS was not beaten far in the Grade 3 Betway Sycamore Sprint last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has won twice from three starts on this course. On her best form shown, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 7
KINSHIN SHA showed good speed over this distance on the Classic course last time but found one too good in the form of Amber Rock. He finished 0.4 lengths behind STORMY SEAS in his penultimate run. He is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will assist his cause.
STORMY SEAS is better than his last start. He won a good race in his penultimate run over this distance at Turffontein. Raymond Danielson steps back into the saddle and the pair merit healthy respect.
DUKE OF ROCK ran a fair race over 1200m last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this distance. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
GOLDEN CHANDELIER showed good speed over this distance on the Classic course last time, but was outrun late. She won her two previous outings with ease. The daughter of William Longsword takes on older rivals, but she has ability and should be up to the task at hand.
PINATUBO won a good race on debut over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She could be anything and may be up to the task at hand.
RED CARPET GIRL was an easy winner of her last start over 1160m at Turffontein. She received a seven-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and should be the first older horse past the post
