BettingDiaryThe Formula 1 season comes to a close on the weekend with the running of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit. We take a look at the race from a betting angle.

Lewis Hamilton missed last week’s Sakhir Grand Prix due to COVID-19 and it turned out to be a spectacular race with his replacement, George Russell missing out on victory after a pit stop mix-up and a late puncture. Sergio Perez took his first win ahead of Estaban Ocon and Lance Stroll, a podium few would have predicted. It was another disappointing outing for Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate, Bottas who ended up in 8th position.

Lewis Hamilton has won the last 2 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix’s and 4 out of the last 6 with Mercedes having won 6 in succession.

Valtteri Bottas 18/10

Max Verstappen 19/10

George Russell 9/4

Sergio Perez 25/1

66/1 and better the balance

SUGGESTED BET: Verstappen at 19/10

It is interesting that Bottas is favourite to beat Verstappen given how strong Verstappen has been this season, but that is probably due to the record that Mercedes have at this track. I think Verstappen can end the season off on a high while this bet does come with a disclaimer that if Hamilton rides the situation changes considerably. I haven't checked, but I would imagine these bets would stand without Hamilton racing, if not, you would certainly get your money back.
