The curtain finally falls on the South African soccer season on Saturday when the recently crowned PSL Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns take on Bloemfontein Celtic.
Celtic were too strong for Baroka in the semi-final winning 3-0, but prior to that they required penalties to beat lower league, TS Sporting. In the earlier round they saw off Maritzburg United 3-2 and had few problems in disposing of AmaZulu 4-1.
Sundowns beat Wits 3-2 in a thrilling semi-final and they were also given a hard time in their quarter-final just edging Highlands 1-0 in extra time. Prior to that they had beaten the Vaal University of Technology 2-0 and SuperSport United 1-0.
Celtic were undefeated in the League since returning from the COVID-19 break with 5 draws and 2 victories including a 3-1 win over Maritzburg United in their last League game.
Sundowns came from well back to pip Kaizer Chiefs for the Title win, winning 4 of their last 5 games, the last 2 by 3-0 margins against Polokwane and Black Leopards.
These sides met twice in the League with Sundowns winning 2-1 on both occasions.
