Two more Betway Premiership fixtures take place on Sunday when Golden Arrows host Mamelodi Sundowns in the earlier kick off followed by Kaizer Chiefs vs Siwelele

Golden Arrows vs Sundowns

0arrows are one of 4 unbeaten sides in the Betway Premiership. Their first 3 matches all ended in 0-0 stalemates, a home fixture against Chippa, a derby clash at Durban City and a visit to TS Galaxy. That trend was snapped in their most recent league outing when they edged out Stellenbosch 1-0 in another home fixture and coming into the weekend Arrows were in seventh position on the log and the only side yet to concede a league goal.

Sundowns are running neck and neck with Pirates at the top of the log with 13 points from 5 matches and the pair are 3 points clear of third placed Amazulu. In midweek Downs were 2-0 winners at home to Milford FC, a third straight home win after they saw off Amazulu (5-2) and Marumo Gallants (2-0). They also won 3-2 at TS Galaxy and their only dropped points came in a 1-1 draw at Kaizer Chiefs.

These teams have just played out what turned into a thriller of an MYN8 semi final over 2 legs. Arrows were 1-0 winners away from home in the first leg but Sundowns won the return 3-2 and advanced to the final on the away goals rule

The Verdict

The MTN8 semi final went right to the wire so Sundowns will have to be on their game if they are to go clear at the top of the standings. Arrows found the net in both legs of that tie and I can see them contributing to the scoring again.

Kaizer Chiefs vs Siwelele

Chiefs are unbeaten after 2 wins and 2 draws in their first 4 league games and at the time of writing they were in fourth spot, 5 points off the pace with a game in hand. They made the perfect start with wins away to Kruger United (3-1) and at home to Sekhukhune (2-0. After that they drew 1-1 at home to Sundowns and most recently they had to settle for a 2-2 draw away to Richards Bay. Chiefs did lose an MTN8 quarter final, 1-0 at home to Arrows.

Siwelele are still looking for a first win and are third from bottom on the log. They began with a 2-2 draw at home to TS Galaxy before defeats at Milford (1-0) and Amazulu (2-0). Most recently they played out a 1-1 draw with Chippa in a home fixture.

Siwelele took 4 points off Chiefs last season, drawing the away game 0-0 and winning at home e2-0.

The Verdict

Chiefs were a touch disappointing at Richards Baay but that aside they haven’t done too much wrong in the league and I fancy they can win this with daylight.
