Sunday’s English Premier League double header comprises of Manchester United’s visit to Everton and a London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea and we have a play in both games.
Everton vs Man United
Everton are unbeaten with 4 points to show for their first 2 matches. They began with a 2-0 home win over Palace (Dewsbury-Hall, Barry) on the opening weekend and last time out a 91st minute equalizer from Tarkowski earned them a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth. They also thrashed Preston 4-0 in the Carabao Cup but whilst on the face of it things look to be going well the business in the transfer window has left them with aa really small squad. Grealish has re-joined on loan but Iliman Ndiaye joined Manchester City.
United were way off it in their 2-0 defeat at Hull on the opening weekend but they bounced back with aa 5-2 win over Ipswich with Bruno Fernades scoring a hat trick. United won this fixture 1-0 last season although Everton won a Old Trafford by the same scoreline.
Verdict
Everton’s first choice starting line up still looks plenty strong enough to me but if they start to pick up injuries they are going to be stretched. United have faced newly promoted sides so far and with contrasting results. This will tell us more about where they are at and my gut feel is that this could end all square.

Arsenal vs Chelsea
After beating Man City 3-0 in the Community Shield Arsenal’s defence of the EPL title began at home to newly promoted Coventry and they came through with a comfortable 3-0 win. First half goals from Havertz and Saka and a third from Odegaard just after the break sealed the win in what was a one sided contest. On Monday night the Gunners were away to Aston Villa and they had to work pretty hard for a 1-0 win with Saka scoring the only goal of the game just before the hour mark.
Chelsea are another side to have taken maximum points from their first 2 games. A 3-2 win at Fulham first up came with goals from the front 3 Pedro, Rogers and Palmer. They followed up with 4-3 home win over Brighton, scoring 3 goals in the first half hour and once again Pedro and Palmer were on the scoresheet.
Verdict
Chelsea have tons of attacking threat but could be short of options in central midfield, an area where Arsenal are well and truly stacked. The visitors have also conceded 5 in 2 games whilst Arsenal have 2 clean sheets against their name. I can see Chelsea been very competitive but I’m looking for a goalscorer bet and I will go with Havertz to pop up any time any time.
