The only midweek Betway Premiership fixture offers Mamelodi Sundowns the opportunity to stretch their lead at the top of the standings when they host Siwelele on Wednesday night
Sundowns
Sundowns with an unbeaten record of 5 wins and 1 draw and they are 3 points clear of Pirates and 5 better off than third placed Kaizer Chiefs but they have played one game more. With CAF Champions League football resulting in Downs and Pirates rescheduling fixtures to avoid congestion later in the season this stand alone midweek game would see Downs go 6 points clear should they win.
A late goal from Teboho Mokoena gave Downs a 2-1 win away to previously unbeaten Golden Arrows on Sunday. Last midweek Downs were 2-0 winners at home to Milford FC, a third straight home win after they saw off Amazulu (5-2) and Marumo Gallants (2-0). They also won 3-2 at TS Galaxy and their only dropped points came in a 1-1 draw at Kaizer Chiefs.
Sundowns have also made it through to the MTN8 Final where they will face off with Orlando Pirates.
Siwelele
Siwelele were also in league action last Sunday, they took on Kaizer Chiefs at Dobsonville and they went down 3-2. That leaves them still looking for a first win and they are third from bottom on the log. Siwelele began with a 2-2 draw at home to TS Galaxy before defeats at Milford (1-0) and Amazulu (2-0) and then a 1-1 draw with Chippa in a home fixture.
Following the defeat to Chiefss Lehlohonolo Seema lost his job as Siwelele coach and Godfrey Mosoetsa has been appointed caretaker.
Recent Head To Head
The first meeting last season ended all square at 1-1 but the return, when Sundowns were heavily involved in the tussle for the title with Pirates saw Downs lead 5-1 at half time and they went on to win an amazing game 7-4.
The Betting
At the time of writing Sundowns are 7/20 to win the game with the draw at 31/10 and Siwelele can be backed at 8/1.
A game of 3 goals or more is 15/20 and its 11/10 for both teams to score.
The Verdict
The games are coming thick and fast for Sundowns but although it remains to be seen how Siwelele react to the sacking of their coach this looks an opportunity for another home win for Downs, hopefully with a clan sheet.
