We take a look at all nine UCL League Phase matches taking place on Wednesday including AEK vs Real Madrid, Fenerbahce vs Liverpool and RB Leipzig vs Man City
AEK Athens vs Real Madrid
AEK began their campaign with a 1-0 home win over LASK but lost their next two, 3-1 to Shakhtar (in London) and 5-1 away to Man City in Round 3.
Real have 3 wins from 3. They twice got the better of Italian opposition in the first 2 rounds. A 2-1 at home to Inter on Matchday 1 and a stunning comeback from 3-1 down in a win 4-3 victory at Roma. In Round 3 Real put Leipzig away 4-1 in Madrid.
This should be straight forward for Real on all known form and I like the chances of Vinícius Júnior getting on the score sheet.
Bet: Anytime goalscorer Vinícius Júnior at 31/20 with Sportingbet
Fenerbahce vs Liverpool
Having come through the qualifiers Fenerbahce have drawn home games against Slavia Roma (1-1) and most recently Prague (2-2) either side of a 6-0 hiding away to Aston Villa.
Liverpool have 3 wins from 3 with plenty of drama and hoals. They have come from behind at home to Atletico (2-1) and also edged out Villarreal 4-3 at anfield. Their only road trip delivered a 6-3 win away to LASK (Barcola hat trick)
Liverpool for me but my bet is Barcola anytime
Bet: Anytime goalscorer Bradley Barcola at 18/10 with Sportingbet
Dortmund vs Real Betis
Dortmund beat Villarreal 3-2 in an opening round home fixture and they also won 2-1 away at Sabah in Round 3 and Serhou Guirassy scored twice in both those games. In between those wins they went down 1-0 away to Bodo/Glimt.
Betis are going really well with the maximum 9 points, most recently edging out Feyenoord 1-0 in a home fixture. They also won 3-2 away to Lille in their opening match and they followed up with aa 3-2 home win over Porto in Round 2.
Continuing the theme of anytime goalscorers and Serhou Guirassy is one of the more obvious options for Dortmund
Bet: Anytime goalscorer Serhou Guirassy at 19/20 with Sportingbet
Lens vs Como
Matchday 1 saw Lens come from 2-1 down to win 3-2 at ten man Slavia Prague but since then they slipped to a 2-0 home defeat to Sporting and a 3-0 loss away to Club Brugge.
Como have been involved in some high scoring games, winning 2 and losing 1. They won both their home matches, against Leipzig and Man United by a 4-1 scoreline either side of a 3-2 defeat at Feyenoord.
If there is a question mark against Como in Europe it could surround how good they can be away from home but they have been going well in Serie A wherever they play and Nico Paz could be the anytime goalscorer to be with here.
Bet: Anytime goalscorer Nico Paz at 21/10 with Sportingbet
PSV vs Club Brugge
PSV drew their opening match 1-1 at home to Shakhtar and then went down 1-0 away to RB Leipzig. Their first win came in Round 3, 1-0 away to Porto.
Brugge lost their opening match 3-2 at home to Aston Villa but then bounced back with successive wins. In Round 2 a hat trick from Tresoldi helped them to a surprise 4-3 win over Inter in Milan and they followed up with a 3-0 home win over Lens.
Not a game where anything really stands out but on gut feel a cheeky draw bet could pay dividends.
Bet: Match result draw at 32/10 with Sportingbet
Porto vs Napoli
Porto are still looking to open their points account after a Round 3 home defeat to PSV (1-0). Earlier they went down 3-2 away to Betis and 2-0 at home Man City.
Napoli lost their first 2 matches, 1-0 at home to Arsenal first up and 3-1 away to Villarreal before they put themselves on the board with a 4-3 home win over Bodo in Round 3.
I’m battling with this one to the extent I will drop a dead bat on it. No bet!
RB Leipzig vs Man City
RB Leipzig went down 4-1 away to Como on Matchday 1 and last time out they lost by the same scoreline to Real in Madrid but they did beat PSV 1-0 in a Round 2 home fixture.
City made a winning start to the UCL campaign with a 2-0 win away to Porto but in Round 2 they went down 4-2 at home to PSG. They bounced back in another home game in Round 3, thrashing AEK 5-1.
Back to back defeats in the EPL throw a bit of a question mark against City though whether Leipzig are good enough to take advantage of a dip in results is questionable. We usually see goals for both sides when they meet and Romulo is the most likely scorer for the Bundesliga side.
Bet: Anytime goalscorer Romulo at 22/10 with Sportingbet
Slavia Prague vs Arsenal
Slavia Prague lost their first 2 matches, 3-2 at home to Lens and 2-0 at Sabah. They opened their points account in Round 3 with 2-2 draw away to Fenerbahce.
Last season’s runners up Arsenal made a winning start when tThey came away from Napoli with a 1-0 win. The Gunners followed up with a 3-0 home win over Lille and last time out they drew 2-2 with Bayern in Munich.
After an up and down week, exiting the EFL Cup but then beating Liverpool at Anfield I think Arsenal will score 3 or more in this one.
Bet: Arsenal total goals over 2.5 at even money with Sportingbet
Viking vs Sabah FK
Viking faced German opposition in the first 2 rounds and in their only home game they threatened an almighty surprise, taking a 2-0 lead at home to Bayern who then turned it around to lead 3-2 only for Viking’s Haugen to score in the 90th minute and force a 3-3 draw. On Matchday 1 they lost 3-1 away to Stuttgart and last time out they also went down 3-1 away to Aston Villa.
After coming through 4 rounds of qualifying Sabah Baku lost 4-0 to Man United on Matchday 1 but bounced back in their first home game seeing off Slavia Prague 2-0. Round 3 saw them go down 2-1 at home to Dortmund.
I haven’t seen either of these sides in action this season and for me this is best left alone. No bet
