R1 Juliet of Verona, not really my sort of price at a shade of odds on but still early days for this one and stepping up in trip should help on breeding
R2 African Wild Dog at around 17/10, a few with form here so hoping for a bigger price. Went with this one mainly on last run not far behind one of Marshall's stable who ran a cracker in the Gatecarsher if KZN recently
R3 Not sure there is much depth in this race so Sierra Nevada the 2 bar Khaya stables baby with the Snaiths might not have to be too special to win
R4 Looks a limited field in terms of ability so although didn't show much on debut Ingenue (12.5/1 each way play) might show improvement for the experience
R5 Going with Frequent Flyer, each way, currently around 110/1, punted and excuses last time, tricky looking open maiden
R6 Good race this but really stumped where to go so Roccapina, an old fav of mine, class on her day but hard to catch right
R7 Tricky again, Clark Griswold at 11/2, 3rd run gelded still quite unexposed a tentative call
R8 Not much between a few of these regular rivals, Winter Pearl as consistent as any, Zackey up, 33/10 at time of writing, record with cut in the ground pretty good

R1 More Thunder, tentative call at around 7/2 as stablemates Notable Speech and Opera Ballo and a few others are top class. My pick ran behind Notable Speech last time but was coming back from a long break and should have come on plenty for that
R2 Really tough with loads of promising 2yo's with just 1 or 2 runs. Rulers Pride at 7/1 looks a decent alaternative to the Irish horses that top the boards
R3 Top sprinter from Australia Overpass at 11/4 has by far the best form in the race, just whether it can be reproduced at Ascot
R4 Bow Echo hard to oppose in my book though odds on so I will probably sit this one out
R5 Really tough this with national hunt and flat form to consider, small each way Small Fry at 9/1 given its 4 places in a huge field
R6 Map of Stars, appears to be a bit of tricky customer but on pick of form would be a huge runner, see 8/1 nw pretty sure it was a double igure price when I fist had a look last night
R7 Lots of talk about the favourite been much better than current rating but I'm siding with Gamrai at 5/1, also lightly raced and stepping up in trip

Day 2 on Wednesday. Juvenile races to start and finish look impossible to me. Rest of card is also tough card so just trying these 3 each way plays and keeping some powder dry for rest of the week.
R3 Catalina Del Carpio currently at 8/1, Irish raider, might be better over further but stiff track this and rising ground, should be gaining late
R5 Rogue Diplomat at around 25/1 genuine top end handicapper, seems like high draws in these large field races up the straight are favourable from yesterday's evidence and 4 places available
R6 A real Hail Mary on American Gal at 33/1. Has been disappointing of late, tailed off even but was just touch off in a Group 3 at Ascot as a 3yo. If capable of repeating that it brings her right into the mix. Can't get hurt at this price as the saying goes and again 4 places to aim for.

not been betting horses this week but just watched greyville replays, there are some bloody good 4kg claiming appies on the scene lately but none better than i've seen than this young Mauritian lad Anaas Mosaheb. So strong in a finish, watch his double if you get the chance, the start to finish win on lock and key a ride beyond his experience.
he's in form and one to give attention to, won't be a 4kg for long.

R2 Heyzoom 6/1, Saffie Osbourne's ride, one of many lightly raced who could be much better than their rating, joint bottom weight
R5 We're Goosers 10/1, hacked up last time, draw 7 not ideal, would have preferred higher but think they will track across
R7 Cosi Bello 15/2 won on seasonal reappearance after 273 day break, bound to come on for that, lightly raced and probably my best of the day

R1 Silent Beauty at 8/1 should go well, backed and won easily on debut, a number of these fit the same profile so small each way stake, would have been a shorter price if had been a better draw (8/25) but not impossible from there.
R2 Favourite Venetian Sun hard to beat though no value at 6/4 taking on the boys
R3 Hopeful Rock 7/2 in a 19 runner handicap again no value so hoping for a drift, lightly raced 4yo unexposed and could be way better than MR, comeback run was decent and the winner of that race won in the same grade earlier in this meeting.
R4 Precise odds on looks really hard to beat, Balantna, Breeders Cup winner as a bay might be the value if ready for first run of the season, perhaps a place on the latter.
R5 Seet at around 9/2 with Ryan Moore up, improving every run and might not have hit the ceiling yet, similar comments apply as to R3 in terms of value so hoping for a drift
R6 Looks a boat race between the top 2 in the betting, I'm with Water to Wine at 6/4, 2 runs 2 wins but more the way he went about it, missed th derby and this will be decent consolation - well hopefully
R7 Gold Digger at 8/1, unexposed after just 3 runs, cosy win on re-appearance hopefully to look after handicap rating with this in mind

Race 2 Silver Tudor, each way at 25/2, back from a long break but consistent in this grade and would hold the favourite Tara's Star on 1 previous run on the poly, albeit year ago
Race 4 Liz Hurley at 7/2, not a strong field, was punted last time and excuses (cut) in a race that is working out ok
Race 6, All the talk for Curious Girl, July entry needs a top run to boost chances of a run but I'm looking elsewhere. Form line from 2nd May over 200m has Gerbera coming out best but Womans World was drawn wide that day and gets gate 1 today, plus Fourie and has a win and place over the 2400, 6/1 shot
Race 8 Run to Rio at 9/2 goes well on poly, MR now below last winning mark
Race 9 Winter in London at 8/1, class dropper, MR coming down, gate 1, has shown pace early in some previous races and if forecast is right then a tail win today also helps
Will look at Ascot if I get chance, if not enjoy the races if you playing.

Dowin in Durban ,
Race 2
An open race , Tara Star has Fourie up and is a punting stable , I like magic Surprise for an upset and hoping teh Candyman can produce him with a well timed finish.
Race 3
Lucinda Woodruff is in good form and should always be respected when raiding in Durban. the price is a little skinny but I really like her charge here Blizzard Boy.
Race 4
Wide open with very little form to speak of , Owner of Creation has had like 30 starts but ran well last time and should he go 9/2 or better should def be followed, take your pick of the rest.
Race 5
Another tough race , preference for Queen of the Air and backed up with America First
Race 6
Sticking with Gerbera here , all the talk the fav but happy to take her on.
Race 7
Very open IMO, Soldiers Eye and Palace Prince will be my two to go to war with .
Race 8
Old veteran Run to Rio can pop up here , anything otherwise.
Race 9
Tough end to teh day , KaapeKloppse to get out of jail !
Play well lads
