Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Monday 24th February where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Note, this meeting was postponed on Sunday and has been rescheduled for Monday.
Race 1
ARASHI has produced two good runs to date. She showed good speed over 800m on this course last time, before getting outrun late by Caroline Island. The daughter of Legislate returns from a 10-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. She should love the rise to 1160m and unless one of the first timers have ability, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
BACK FROM WAR was in need of her debut effort over 1000m on this course. The daughter of Act Of War would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement.
BLIZZARD QUEST is an unraced son of Querari from the Sean Tarry stable with Craig Zackey in the saddle. He is related to four-time winner The Mauritian. If not in need of the experience, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.
Race 2
Six of the eleven runners in this contest are unraced and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. EMERALD FORGE is a daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and if not in need of the outing, she should start her career on a positive note.
CRYSTAL GROVE is a daughter of The United States from the Sean Tarry yard with Craig Zackey doing duty. She is related to four-time winner Quant Master. If not too green in running, she should produce a promising showing.
DONDOYAKI is a daughter of Danon Platina from the Fanie Bronkhorst stable and Muzi Yeni will be riding. She is related to multiple winners including Tinder Dry and Play With Fire. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself.
Race 3
CRONUS was disappointing in his last start over 1200m at the Vaal. It must be noted that Vibe Sa has come out and won again since. His debut effort when third over this C&D catches the eye. The son of Flower Alley has plenty of scope and if putting his best foot forward, he should be the one to beat.
KALEESH CYBORG is better than his last two starts with the blinkers fitted. He has finished second over this C&D previously. On best form shown, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
FUTURENAIRE is better than his last start as he was reported to have raced with his tongue over the bit. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. His debut effort when fourth over 1000m on this course was fair. The son of Futura has scope and can show improvement.
Race 4
DUPONT EMERALD has produced three good runs to date. She showed good speed over this C&D last time before getting caught late by Paul Revere. The daughter of Querari is a progressive type and Muzi Yeni retains the ride. She is back against her own sex and is the horse to beat.
SAUDI SWEEP is better than her last start over 1400m at the Vaal. She returns from a 16-week break which would have done her the world of good. If finding her previous form, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
TIPPERARY ran a fair race over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She finished second over this C&D, under Rachel Venniker three runs ago. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber cannot be ignored.
Race 5
This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is CHIEFTAIN’S SHIELD from the Tyrone Zackey stable. He raced wide around the turn over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish fifth. Ryan Munger is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
PAGE BOY ran a fair race over 1500m on the Vaal Classic course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Flower Alley has scope and from his good draw of two, he may be one of the leading contenders.
MYSTIC VISION’S last two starts before the 11-week break were fair. The son of Rafeef steps up to the mile and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can feature.
Race 6
ONE FELL SWOOP has shown good signs of a form return in her last two starts. She cost herself winning last time as she hung in the final 200m. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber drops to 1000m and if keeping on a straight line, she should be the one to beat.
TROPPO VELOCE is better than her last start over 1160m on this course. She returns from a 12-week break which may have done her the world of good. She has won three times and finished second three times from seven starts over this distance. The daughter of Rafeef must be included in all bets.
JUST THE TWO OF US produced a strong finish when winning her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 7
PISTOL PETE lasted long enough when winning the Grade 3 Betway Lebelo Sprint last time. He has won four times, finished second twice and third once from as many starts on this course. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and the combination should fight out the finish.
TRUTH set the pace over 1400m last time and kept going to hold all challengers at bay. He should have no issues with the drop to 1100m. The son of Heavenly Blue is in a good space and should go close.
RODEO DRIVE should have finished closer to the winner last time. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Her last victory came under Craig Zackey and she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 8
JURY’S OUT tried hard when second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this C&D. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and he can go one better.
ARTIST’S MODEL ran a fair race over 1800m on this course last time. He would have come on from the run and with his handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs, he should be involved at the finish.
WHAFEEF ran a fair race over this C&D last time. He was reported to be fatigued that day. Ryan Munger is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 9
VESUVIO should have won his last start over 2000m on this course. He has won over this distance previously. The son of Erupt jumps from a good draw of four and with Ryan Munger retaining the ride, he can notch up his eighth-career victory.
HAWKBILL finished 4.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. It is encouraging that Craig Zackey steps back into the saddle.
LITTLEMARYSUNSHINE won a good race in her last start over this C&D. She received a six-pound penalty for that victory. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and the pair merit healthy respect.
Race 10
POPLAR PARK followed up her maiden victory with a good third-place finish over 2000m on the Vaal Classic course. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the rise to 2400m. The daughter of Last Winter gets the cheekpieces fitted which should keep her mind on the task at hand. With a bit of luck in running, she may be the one to beat.
ROYAL MAZARIN has some good recent form lines to his credit. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
ROMEO’S MAGIC won his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course with ease. He gets the blinkers fitted today and if repeating that effort, he should be competitive
