WSB Logo Orange 80x80The Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore will play host to this weekend’s F1 GP and given Red Bulls continued drop in form there is plenty of excitement around the Drivers and Constructors Championship.

We look at this weeks racing from a betting angle and share a few plays.

CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE

Max Verstappen still leads the Driver’s Championship on 313 points while Lando Norris keeps on edging closer and he currently has 254 points. Charles Leclerc’s run of good form sees him on 235 points and not completely out of the fight. The Bookies still have Verstappen as firm favourite to win the Drivers’ Championship and have him at 1.44 while Lando Norris is trading at 2.80. The outside shot, Leclerc, is trading at 21.00.

The bookies have McLaren as heavy outright to win the Championship at 1.10. Red Bull are trading at 7.00 while Ferrari are trading at 17.00.

Previous Race (2024 Azerbaijan GP)

Last weekend saw a fight between Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri for first place. Leclerc started the race in front, but Piastri managed to take the lead early on and hold onto it for the rest of the race. Sergio Perez was close behind the leaders for most of the race, but an incident with Carlos Sainz on the second last lap took both drivers out of the race, giving third to George Russell and allowing Lando Norris to finish fourth after starting the race in fifteenth position.

Singapore GP 2023

Singapore 2023 was one of the only races last year where Red Bull did not dominate. Verstappen finished fifth while Sergio Perez finished seventh. Carlos Sainz won the race while Lando Norris finished second and Lewis Hamilton took third place.

VERDICT

McLaren have continued to show that they are the strongest team at this stage of the season. They have been producing solid results week in and week out. Coming into a race where they produced a good result last year as well as having the confidence of leading the Constructors Championship I am expecting them to put the hammer down.

Suggested Bet: McLaren, both cars podium finish at 2.00

Carlos Sainz will be coming into this weekend with good memories of his win last year in Singapore. He had a solid race last weekend and nearly got into a podium position, however, in the second last lap of the race the unfortunate collision between the two drivers denied him that opportunity. I think he stands a good chance of finishing on the podium and he is trading at 2.20 to do so. I am going to take a more aggressive approach and will be on him to finish 3rd hopefully behind the 2 McLaren’s.

Suggested Bet: Carlos Sainz to finish 3rd at 4.75
