SATURDAY
SCOTLAND v FRANCE
Scotland opened their campaign with a brilliant 20-17 win over England in Edinburgh, but they couldn’t repeat that performance and went down 20-17 to the Welsh in Cardiff. If they are to stay in contention for a Six Nations title they will have to beat the French at home.
France put in a fairly lack lustre display in their opening weekend beating Italy 37-10, but they came out firing in Round 2 beating Ireland by 6 points in Paris and while that was more or less what the bookies expected, the manner of France’s victory felt more dominant.
The last time these sides met was in Paris last year with Scotland beating France by 4 points and that made it two wins in a row as the last time they met in Edinburgh it was Scotland 28, France 17.

Scotland 5/2
Draw 25/1
France 37/100
Handicap: Scotland (+6.5)
Suggested Bet: Handicap, France (-6.5) points at 9/10
Scotland are well capable of giving France a run for their money, but I am just so impressed by this French team and I am expecting them to pull clear to win by 7 points or more.
ENGLAND v WALES
England beat Italy 33-0 two weeks ago and that after having lost 27-17 to Scotland away from home. They face a Wales side that bounced back from an opening 22 point defeat to Ireland in Dublin with a hard fought 3 point victory over Scotland in Cardiff a fortnight ago.
Wales beat England in last year’s Six Nations 40-24 in Cardiff and England won a high scoring encounter 33-30 back in 2020.

England 1/7
Draw 33/1
Wales 6/1
Handicap: England (-13.5) at 9/10
Suggested Bet: Winning Margin, England by 8-14 points inclusive at 28/10
I am not going to have a bet on the handicap, but I would be leaning towards the Welsh staying within the 13.5 points, but the bet I fancy is at longer odds that is England to win the game by margin of no less than 8 and no more than 14 points.
SUNDAY
IRELAND v ITALY
Ireland were very impressive in their opening round 29-7 win over the Welsh in Dublin, but they came bouncing back to earth in Paris getting beaten 30-24 by the French and credit must go to the Irish for fighting back to keep the winning margin respectable after France raced into a significant early lead.
Italy failed to score a point in their second round match against England losing 33-0 in Rome and they were also well beaten by France in their opening game going down 37-10, although that was enough for them to beat the handicap which was set at 33 points.
Last time these sides met in Dublin, Ireland ran out 50-17 winners.

Ireland 1/400
Draw 90/1
Italy 22/1
Handicap: Ireland (-38.5)
Suggested Bet: Handicap, Italy (+38.5) at 10/11
You can never make a confident call on the Italians, but this does look a big handicap and they have showed me just enough in the opening two weeks to suggest that they should be able to stay within the cap.
