BettingDiaryThe Formula 1 season continues to build to a thrilling climax and we take a look at the Italian Grand Prix taking place at the Monza Race Track this weekend.

Max Verstappen justified our faith in him by winning the Dutch Grand Prix last weekend and now takes a 3 point lead over Lewis Hamilton in the Drivers Standings. It has been many a year since we have had such a close title race and Verstappen has now shortened to the 6/10 favourite to win the title with Hamilton on offer at 12/10.

Things are also very tight in the Constructor Championship with Mercedes just 12 points ahead of the Red Bull Racing Honda team and you can back Mercedes at 8/11 with Red Bull priced at even money.

Back to the Dutch GP and Verstappen ran out a comfortable winner over his big title rival, Lewis Hamilton with Valtteri Bottas completing the podium. All of the other riders finished at least 1 lap behind.

Now it is on to Italy and the Monza Circuit where Lewis Hamilton has had 5 victories since 2012 although he hasn’t won in his last 2 races here with Leclerc winning in 2019 and Gasly finishing on the top step of the podium last year. You would have certainly got massive odds had you called the podium in last year’s race because following Gasly home was Carlos Sainz Junior and Lance Stroll. Hamilton could only finish 7th, Verstappen retired with mechanical failure.

Suggested Bet: Max Verstappen win at 13/10

It really is hard to justify selecting any other driver, but Verstappen or Hamilton and I am siding with Verstappen at the slightly bigger price this week. He has all the momentum heading into this race and although Hamilton has an excellent record here Verstappen has won 7 Grand Prix’s this season to Hamilton’s 4 and he is also looking for his 3rd successive Grand Prix victory.

What makes this bet really attractive though is the World Sports Betting Money Back for 2nd Promotion and if Verstappen does get pipped by Hamilton, you can get your money back in the form of free bets.

Suggested Bet: Leclerc Podium at 9/2

There are a number of additional markets priced up and one that I will have a keen eye on is the Podium, where Charles Leclerc who has been in pretty good form and was 5th last weekend is trading at 9/2. He is a past winner at the track so likes the circuit and looks worth a flutter.
