ROCKHAMPTON ROCKET also attracted some outside betting support on his fair debut from a wide draw on the grass at Greyville early last month. He should build on that performance.

The Gauteng raider FLYING FEATHER has met two highly competitive line-ups to date and she made the expected improvement when staying on strongly for a close 3rd at the Vaal over this distance second time out. She clearly has much more to offer but it must be noted that she was carded to race on 21/12 Her conditioner has enjoyed success at this venue in the past.

Top jockey's Marcus and Delpech seemed destined to clash at the finish once again here with the slight preference for the former's mount, MARIS STELLA. This daughter of Curved Ball clearly benefitted from being equipped with blinkers as she stayed on strongly for 2nd behind Green Fairy on the grass at Greyville over a similar distance two weeks ago. She had Delpech's ride, MAKING MIRACLES a head further adrift and the pair meet on identical weight terms here. That said, the former is only having her fifth career start and she certainly has much scope for progress.

SAINT MARCO narrowly defeated Viento (runs in race 5) when he finished well over further on this track in a minor feature earlier this month and perhaps escaped with just the minimum two pound penalty. The five-year old is versatile as he proved when pipped over this c & d three starts ago and he can follow up here. The likely solid gallop will play into his hands.
