Race 1

MAX THE OTTER produced a promising debut effort over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He received a bump leaving the start and despite shifting away from the crop in the closing stages, the manner in which he stayed on was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Vercingetorix would have gained from the experience and will love the extra distance on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat. \

STRATOSPHERIC produced four decent runs before given a 13-week break. He has been gelded, which may have been what he needed. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should throw out a challenge to the top choice.

CHARLIE MALONE is the stable companion of the top choice. He showed good speed over 1000m last time before getting outrun late by Hammies Hero. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. He will be cherry-ripe and merits obvious inclusion.

Race 2

I’LL SLIP AWAY ran a fair race in her last start over this C&D. Her penultimate run when finishing third over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth was encouraging. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and with Keagan de Melo booked to ride, she may be the one to side with.

STRAWBERRY LIGHT finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice on debut. She is 3.5kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the form around. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement.

HEAD GIRL ran a good race on debut over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She understandably raced green, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be competitive.

Race 3

This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is HEAR MY VOICE from the Paul Reeves stable. She was disappointing in her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. Her three previous efforts were encouraging. Richard Fourie does duty and in this type of field, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

CAMIKA’S last two starts at Hollywoodbets Scottsville were fair. She makes her local debut and with just 50.5kgs on her back, she may be hard to peg back.

RED KITE produced some decent form lines before given a 21-week break. She may be at her best over further, but in this line-up, she is capable of finishing in the placings.

Race 4

IMPETUOUS ran a fair race on debut over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He was green in running, but stayed on to finish fifth. The son of William Longsword would have gained from the experience and will love the step up to 1800m. S’manga Khumalo steps into the irons and with the natural progression that is expected, he should go close to winning.

FUTURE TURN is lightly raced with good form lines to his credit. He tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

RUN RUDOLPH RUN finished 0.3 lengths behind POPPING CREASE last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the widest draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 5

ALL ABOUT AL has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He showed good speed over 1000m last time and stayed on to finish third. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. Craig Zackey returns to the saddle and if keeping on a straight line, he should be rewarded for consistency.

KALAHARI FERRARI showed signs of needing his comeback run over 1000m last time. He will strip a much fitter horse and despite carrying top weight of 62kgs, he should be one of the leading contenders.

HAMMIES HERO won a good race on debut over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth at long odds. He takes on much stronger, but he could be anything. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 6

STREET OUTLAW showed signs of needing his comeback run over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth behind the unbeaten Dave The King. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won again since. The son of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the run and from pole position, he may be the one to beat.

SILVER FALCON returned to winning ways in his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville on the Polytrack. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SHIFTING PATH ran a fair race in the Grade 3 Langerman last time. It must be noted that Light Speed has come out and won again since. He makes his course debut and if suited to the track, he can finish in the placings.

Race 7

IRISH MORNING ran a good race when third in his comeback run over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He was in need of that outing as he was reported to be blowing post-race. He has finished second in his only attempt over this distance. The 6yo gelding will strip a much fitter horse and if suited to this track, he can notch up his sixth career victory.

RESONATE has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts on this course. The son of Twice Over is the stable elect with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle and he merits healthy respect.

AFRICAN RAIN returns from a 20-week break which may have done him the world of good. He has won three times, finished second once and third twice from nine starts over this distance. He does carry top weight of 62kgs, but is the class horse in the race and should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 8

INCREDIBILL’S last three efforts in KZN were fair. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth in his last start has come out and won again since. The son of William Longsword takes a drop in class and S’manga Khumalo may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

GALACTIC PATH followed up his maiden win with an equally impressive victory over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He has finished third in his only attempt on this course. The son of Pathfork tries the 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can notch up the hat-trick.

PIKETBERG ALLEY produced a strong finish when winning his last start over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He received a five-pound penalty for that victory. He is having his first run on this course and from pole position, merits obvious inclusion
