Race 1

UMTHOMBO WOLWAZI hails from the visiting Clinton Binda stable. He showed good improvement in his first run as a gelding over this distance at the Vaal. He raced on the speed before getting outrun late by Houston. The son of Elusive Fort will strip a much fitter horse today. He jumps from pole position and in this line-up, he can go one better.

CAN’T CATCH ME showed some improvement in her last start over this C&D. She returns from an 18-week break and is having her first run for the Peter Muscutt stable. The daughter of Flower Alley is a progressive type and if not in need of the run, she should give the males a run for their money.

FUTURE APPROACH is an unraced son of Futura from the Nathan Kotzen yard with Muzi Yeni in the saddle. He does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this type of field. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 2

GLOBAL DOLLAR has produced two fair efforts over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. The son of Global View is a progressive type and in this field, he may be the one to side with from pole position.

KASHKAVAL lost two lengths at the start on debut and brushed the rail at the 800m mark. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He would have come on from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should pose a threat to the top choice.

AGRESSIVO has shown signs of needing his first two career outings. He gets the services of Rachel Venniker who takes the 1.5kgs off his back. If jumping on terms, he can improve to finish in the placings.

Race 3

GREEN CHILLI showed good improvement when finishing third over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She raced from just off the pace and stayed on nicely at the business end. She will love the rise to 1400m and with a bit of luck from her awkward draw of nine, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

FABULOUS has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She moved up like a winner last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Shantastic. The daughter of Visionaire is back on the turf and if fit, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

TELIO’S last two starts have been fair. It must be noted that Berengaria has come out and won again since. She does have the widest draw to overcome, but gets the services of Keagan de Melo who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 4

QUANDARY is the best bet on the programme. He ran a very good race when finishing second in his comeback run over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He raced from just off the pace that day, fought hard but was touched off by Arividicio. The son of Vercingetorix would have come on from the run and will love the extra furlong on offer. He should strip much fitter and is the horse to beat with Keagan de Melo in the saddle.

MASERATI ROAR produced a promising debut effort over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He showed good speed, but found one too good in the form of Great Times. The son of Rafeef found plenty of betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. He would have gained from the experience and if not too green around the turn, he should go close to winning.

CAPTAINOFTHEGREEN took time to find his feet on debut, but finished his race off well. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He should make the natural progression.

Race 5

TEMPERATE ZONE has produced four fair efforts to date. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will be at home over this distance. It is encouraging that Muzi Yeni steps back into the saddle and he can shed his maiden tag.

DUKE OF AFRICA ran a good race when third over 1900m on the Polytrack on Monday. The son of Duke Of Marmalade will love the rise in distance and if this run has not come too soon, he should be one of the leading contenders.

ROCK FALL is the stable companion of the top choice. He finished 0.4 lengths behind the second selection in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 6

SOUTHERN CAPE ran a good race when second over 1600m on this course last time. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She has won twice and finished second once from four starts on this course. She is back against her own sex this afternoon and may be the one to side with.

OH SO SQUISHY has won her last two starts with ease under 4kgs claiming apprentice Malesela Katjedi. She received an eight-pound penalty for her last victory. She is likely to have her own way in front and can notch up the hat-trick.

DESERT ROSE showed good signs of a form return in her last start over 1600m. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She will strip much fitter and with just 53kgs on her back, she should fight out the finish.

Race 7

KITCHAKAL was given a peach of a ride when winning his maiden at the second time of asking over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Master Of My Fate takes on stronger, but he looks to be above average and should be up to the task at hand. If not too green around the turn, he can follow up.

WICCAN WARRIOR fought hard for his maiden win over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He returns from a well-deserved 10-week break. With a bit of luck from the widest draw of eleven, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

RALPH THE RASCAL has fair recent form lines to his name. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last start has come out and won since. He has won once, finished second once and third four times from eight starts over this C&D. On best form shown, he can return to winning ways.

Race 8

RETAIL THERAPY is better than her last start on the Polytrack as the jockey reported something to be amiss. Her two outings prior to that run were good. The 6yo mare takes a drop in class and with the services of 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Gabriel Pieterse, she can notch up her sixth career victory.

AISLING set the pace over this distance on the Polytrack last time and stayed on to finish fourth. She continues to drop in the ratings and with a bit of luck in running, she should be right there.

NIKIYA has finished fourth in her last two starts over 1000m with the blinkers fitted. She has dropped to a competitive rating. She is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from her wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners
