RACE 1

QUESTOR is the best bet on the programme. He should have won his last start over 1400m on this course as he hung in the closing stages. The son of Querari produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. It is encouraging that S’manga Khumalo steps into the saddle and unless one of the first timers have ability, he should shed his maiden tag.

ARTURO is an unraced son of Duke Of Marmalade from the Alan Greeff stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. He is related to three-time winner Double Black. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.

FUTURE AFRICA is a son of Futura from the Sharon Kotzen stable with Luyolo Mxothwa doing duty. He is related to five-time winner Nicky Noo. If not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself.

RACE 2

PUBLIC BENEFIT has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She raced from a handy position over this C&D last time and rallied late to finish third. The daughter of Erupt is a progressive type and in this line-up, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

THE CHARIOTEER finished 6.5 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. He would have gained from the experience and from pole position, he should make the natural progression.

RENOWNED hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. He showed some improvement in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. The son of Duke Of Marmalade is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

RACE 3

AMAZING COLOURS has produced three good runs to date. She showed good pace over 1200m last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Joy And Peace. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Heavenly Blue tries the 1400m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be the horse to beat.

SAVIC’S last two starts in the Eastern Cape have been fair. She was reported to be coughing last time. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber tries the 1400m and she should be competitive.

STAGE PLAY fought hard in her last start, but found one too good in the form of Jambo Sana. She finished 7 lengths behind the second selection in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

RACE 4

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is WOODLAND RIDGE from the Kelly Mitchley stable. He ran a fair race when third in his last start over 1200m on this course. He tries the 1400m for the first time, but is drawn widest of all which is an obvious concern. With a bit of luck in running, he can shed his maiden tag in this line-up.

WESTERN JACK should have finished closer to the winner in a workriders race last time as he was unbalanced at the 150m mark. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

OPENING CEREMONY is better than his last start over 2400m. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He drops in trip and on best form shown, he should have a say.

RACE 5

KHAYA’S HOPE is a winner of his last four starts. He returns from a well-deserved 13-week break which would have done him the world of good. He has won three times and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of The United States takes on older, but he has class and should be up to the task at hand.

INHERIT THE RAIN has some decent recent form lines to his credit. He was running on when third over 1200m on the polytrack last time. Richard Fourie retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

SILVER FALCON was an easy winner of his last start over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. Two of his four career victories have come over this distance. If all went well with his travels, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

GET IT DONE should have won her last start as she hung in the closing stages. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. She is better suited to further, but in this field, she can go one better if keeping on a straight line.

SILVERY BLUE has consistent form lines to her credit. She rallied late when second over 1200m on this course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Raymond Danielson takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

VENUS DE MILO showed some signs of a form return in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from her wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

RACE 7

PHEDRA is better than her last start in the Non-Black Type Fairview Flying Five as the jockey reported something to be amiss. She has won three times and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. If putting her best foot forward, she can notch up her seventh career victory.

CIVIL RIGHTS was an easy winner of her last start over this distance on the Polytrack. She has won once and finished second twice from four starts over this C&D. She finished 2.3 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

RED BERRY stayed on when second over 1200m on this course last time. She is at her best over further, but Richard Fourie retains the ride and she will be mowing down the frontrunners.

RACE 8

SPYDAS CORNER is having his first run for the Cliffie Miller stable. He has been campaigning against stronger company in KZN recently. The son of What A Winter has won three times and finished second four times from nine starts over this distance. He continues to drop in the ratings and if suited to this course, he can start his Eastern Cape career on a winning note.

VARIETY BREEZE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She raced from just off the pace over this distance on the Polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Civil Rights. The 5yo mare should give the males a run for their money.

LEDELL’S ECHO showed good speed when second in his last start over this distance on the Polytrack. He has won once, finished second three times and third once from seven starts over this distance. He will strip much fitter and may be hard to peg back.

Race 9

SON OF ZEUS won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He showed a good turn of foot, ran on and won well. The son of Global View returns from a well-deserved 11-week break. Raymond Danielson retains the ride and if not in need of this outing, he can follow up.

KUZNETSOV finished 1.75 lengths behind CAITLYNS BOY last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. He finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. He is 1kg better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result.

CAITLYNS BOY is a winner of his last two starts on the Polytrack. The tongue tie has done the trick on the son of Pomodoro. If suited to the turf track, he can notch up the hat-trick in this field
