RACE 1

Half of the runners in this field are unraced and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. ERROLS LEGACY is having her first run for the Gavin Smith stable. She was disappointing in her last start and raced in a feature in her penultimate run. Her form prior to that was decent. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and if settled into her new surroundings, she can win a race of this nature.

TIBETAN TEMPTRESS is an unraced daughter of Potala Palace from the Alan Greeff stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. She does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this field. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note.

FIRE GLOW is the stable companion of the top choice. Her last three starts on the polytrack have been moderate. Her best two career outings have come on this course. She is likely to race on the speed and if putting her best foot forward, she may be hard to peg back.

RACE 2

AADEHYA has produced two fair third place finishes to date. He received a bump leaving the start last time, but stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Vercingetorix will enjoy the return to the turf and with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle, he may be the one to side with.

ARTURO ran a decent race on debut over this distance on the polytrack. He raced from a handy position, but found one too good in the form of Questor. The son of Duke Of Marmalade would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement.

SEETHEBADGE finished 4.5 lengths behind the second choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

RACE 3

WOODLAND RIDGE‘S last two starts have been decent. He stayed on when third over this C&D last time. The son of Vercingetorix meets the right field and Luyolo Mxothwa may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

WESTERN JACK lacked a finish over 1300m on the polytrack last time. He was not beaten far in his penultimate start over 1000m on this course. The blinkers have been re-fitted and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

THIS TIME ROUND was disappointing in his last start after a good penultimate run over 1000m on this course. If finding the form of that run, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 4

THE LADY LOVE is an unraced daughter of Lancaster Bomber from the Alan Greeff yard with Richard Fourie in the saddle. She is related to nine-time winner Blackball. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

KOMESANS PASSION is having her first run for the Gavin Smith stable. She has been disappointing in her last two starts. She has finished second once and third once from four starts over this distance. If settled into her new surroundings, she can feature in this line-up

MEDITERANEANGODDES did not get off to the best of starts last time and lacked a finish in the straight. She was beaten under a length in her penultimate run over this C&D. If getting away to a clean start, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 5

THREE ROCKS was ultra-impressive when winning her maiden at the second time of asking. She showed good pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Heavenly Blue takes on stronger, but she has ability and should be up to the task at hand.

YGRITTE set the pace over 1200m on the polytrack last time and found more where it matters most. The blinkers have done the trick and she is the stable elect with Muzi Yeni in the saddle.

GRUE OF ICE held on where it matters most to win her last start over 1200m on the polytrack. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory and she can follow up

Race 6

BLONDE ACT raced from a handy position over 1600m on the polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Tarantino. He finished 1.8 lengths behind CHERRY ANO in his penultimate run. He is 7kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won twice and finished third once from four starts over this distance. The combination of Alan Greeff and Richard Fourie are in fine form and should add another winner to their tally.

CHERRY ANO stayed on when fourth in the Listed WSB East Cape Derby last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is a horse with class and merits healthy respect.

MEDLERS TART had excuses in the Listed East Cape Oaks last time. She won a good race in her penultimate outing over this C&D. The daughter of Master Of My Fate should give the males a run for their money.

RACE 7

TEATRO has produced four good runs since relocating to the Eastern Cape. He raced from a handy position in the Non-Black Type Fairview 1400 last time and stayed on to finish third. He will enjoy the drop back to 1200m as both his career victories have come over this distance. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

SLINGS AND ARROWS is better than his last start over 1400m on the polytrack. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from nine starts on this course. The 4yo gelding will be mowing down the frontrunners.

TIPSY TINA showed good speed in the Listed Milkwood Stakes last time, but was caught late by Phedra. She is in a good space and with just 54.5kgs on her back, she will be hard to peg back.

RACE 8

JEAN PAUL showed very good improvement in his last start over this C&D. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. He has dropped to a competitive rating and if not too far out of his ground at the halfway mark, he can notch up his third career victory.

PICTURE THE MOMENT was running on when fifth over this distance on the polytrack last time. He finished 0.15 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

WIND SOCK was slow into stride over 1300m last time, but ran on strongly to finish second. He is having his peak run for the Zietsman Oosthuizen stable and if jumping on terms, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
