RACE 1

WATCH TOWER has produced four creditable efforts to date. He did not get off to the best of starts last time and rallied late to finish second. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Jackson tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. In this line-up, he should be the horse to beat.

EMPIRE BLUE ran a fair race over 1200m on the turf last time. He finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and if repeating that effort, he should pose a threat.

VANDALISE is having her first run for the Alan Greeff stable. She has not shown much promise in the Western Cape. The daughter of Captain Of All tries the polytrack and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, there should be improvement to come

RACE 2

GRAZINGINTHEGRASS was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 2000m on the turf. He was slow into stride but finished his race off strongly. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. Despite his big mass of 62kgs, he should notch up the hat-trick.

ZIG ZAG was ultra-impressive when winning his last start over 2000m on this course. Despite an awkward start, the manner in which he ran on at the business end was eye-catching. He received the maximum penalty for that victory, but is in a very good space and can follow up.

MHLABENI finished 1.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today which is enough to turn the form around.

RACE 3

EXECUTOR ran a fair race in her last start over this distance on the turf. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She has finished third twice from three starts on this course. In this type of field, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

MISS TUCKER stayed on when second in a work riders contest last time. She finished 1.6 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

SUCCESSFUL LADY is an unraced daughter of Captain Of All from the Gavin Smith stable with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle. She does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this line-up. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

RACE 4

BOURNEMOUTH showed good improvement in his local debut over 1400m on the turf. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. The son of Canford Cliffs would have come on from the run and if suited to the polytrack, he should be too good for this field.

SIBERIAN FOX ran a fair race on the turf last time. His penultimate run when second over 1200m on this course was encouraging. He is likely to race on the speed from his awkward draw of nine and S’manga Khumalo may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

MAKAHA BEACH may be the first filly past the post. Her last four starts before given a 19-week break were decent. She is the stable elect with Luyolo Mxothwa in the saddle and if not in need of the run, she can finish in the placings.

RACE 5

SWEET THE SOUND showed some signs of a form return in her last start over 1400m on the turf. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Rafeef takes a drop in class and she may be the one to side with.

MON TRESOR showed good improvement in her last start over 1200m on this course. She raced from a handy position, but found one too good in the form of Bonnaroo. She has cracked a good draw of three and must be included in all bets.

NKALANZINZI stayed on when third over 1400m on the turf last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is back against her own sex this afternoon and if suited to this course, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 6

AL QAASIM is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1000m on this course. He has won once, finished second three times and third once from nine starts over this C&D. He is in a very good space and with Luyolo Mxothwa booked to ride, he can notch up the hat-trick.

TEATRO finished 4.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. He would have come on from the run and will strip a much fitter horse. Richard Fourie may be able to get the best out of the son of Canford Cliffs.

FOREST SPY finished 4.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is only 1.5kgs better off at the weights which is not enough for the tables to be turned. He has cracked a good draw of two and cannot be ignored.

RACE 7

CHERRY ANO ran a good race when second against stronger company over this distance on the turf last time. He raced from a handy position, but found one too good in the form of Bush Tracker. The son of Capetown Noir takes a drop back in class and if suited to this surface, he should notch up his fourth career victory.

RAZOR RED fought hard in his last start over 1400m on the turf, but found one too good in the form of CHERRY ANO. He is likely to adopt the same tactics from pole position and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

LAST STORM finished 0.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

RACE 8

EUPHORIC ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. The manner in which he ran on at the business end was encouraging. He has won once, finished second three times and third once from seven starts over this C&D. He takes a drop in class and with Keanen Steyn retaining the ride, he can go one better.

EQUESTRIAN AFFAIR followed up his maiden win with a decent third-place finish over 1400m on the turf. The son of Rafeef will enjoy the step up to the mile and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SILVER STARDUST did not settle in his last start on the turf, but stayed on nicely at the finish. He would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. He jumps from a good draw of three and merits healthy respect
