Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1

BOURBON BEAT showed very good improvement in his last start over 1800m on this course. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he hung in the latter stages. He is drawn well at gate three and can win in this type of field.

DUQUESNE WHISTLE is a filly taking on the males. She was disappointing in her last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, but is better than that effort suggests. Marco van Rensburg takes the ride and should the top choice fluff his lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

QUALITY JOKER hails from the visiting Paul Peter stable. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the step up to 2000m. If suited to the surface, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 2

FORWARD SPELL had his first race over this distance on the turf track. He was reported to be not striding out that day, but he was a long way back turning for home and finished his race off nicely. The son of Futura would have gained from the experience and there should be plenty of improvement to come. He tries the Polytrack and may be the one to side with.

LUCRETIUS showed good improvement in his last start over 1700m on this course. Despite overracing in the early stages, he ran on well in the closing stages. If switching off early, he should pose a massive threat.

BOLD PREMIER has shown good improvement since the gelding. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

Race 3

SPARKLING FLAME moved up like a winner over this C&D last time, but was outrun in the latter stages. The blinkers have done the trick on the daughter of Pomodoro. Serino Moodley retains the ride this afternoon and she should shed her maiden tag.

RAIN WEAR has good consistent form lines to her credit. She returns from a 13-week break, which may have done her the world of good. She gets the blinkers fitted which should keep her mind on the task at hand. If not in need of the run, she should fight out the finish.

PRINCESS TEA showed good improvement in her last start over 1400m on this course. She raced from a handy position that day and stayed on nicely at the finish. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will love the step up to the mile and she should have more to come.

Race 4

SACRED LOTUS showed good signs of a form return in her last start over this distance at Turffontein. She set the pace that day, but was outrun in the latter stages. It must be noted that Timeforthat has come out and won again since. She takes a drop in class this afternoon and should be cherry-ripe. If suited to the Polytrack, she can notch up her third career victory.

TUPELO HONEY has won her last two starts from wide barrier positions. She has won twice, finished second three times and third twice from nine attempts over this distance. She is likely to have her own way in front from pole position and can notch up the hat-trick.

INDIGO MOON followed up her maiden win with a good third-place finish over 1400m on this course. She is better suited to today’s distance and merits healthy respect.

Race 5

QUICK STAR ran a good race in his last start over 1400m on the turf, but found one too good in the form of Captain Fontane. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts on this course. He tries the 1700m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should go one better.

FIGHT SONG was an easy winner in his last start over 1800m on the turf. He lost a length at the start, but the manner in which he ran on was eye-catching. He has won twice from five starts on this course and can follow up.

KAPEN PRIDE has finished third in his last three starts. He carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs today and must be included in all bets.

Race 6

THE GAUL was unlucky last time as he was baulked for a clear run from the 400m mark. He finished 1.8 lengths behind RUNNING FREELY that day and is 0.5kgs better off at the weights. With a bit of luck in running, he should be the one to beat.

RUNNING FREELY was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1200m on this course. He was given a three-pound penalty for that victory and with 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Gabriel Pieterse in the saddle, he should be one of the leading contenders.

BEDAZZLED JOKER showed some signs of a form return last time over 1200m. He stumbled leaving the starting stalls, but stayed on nicely at the business end. He takes a slight drop in class and can run into the money.

Race 7

SPACE RACE’S last three starts have been good. She should have finished closer last time as she had to be steadied at the 450m mark. She has won once and finished second twice from seven starts over this distance. She won her maiden on this course by 3.6 lengths. The daughter of Master Of My Fate should notch up her second career victory.

NOT NOW PUSSYCAT ran a good race when finishing second over this C&D last time. She is having her second run after a rest and should strip fitter. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

HUMDINGER was an impressive winner when shedding her maiden tag at the second time of asking. The daughter of What A Winter takes a rise in class, but is lightly raced and has scope. She is carded to race on 12 September 2021 and her progress in that race will need to be checked.

Race 8

This is a weak Qualified Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is FREEDOM DANCER from the Clinton Binda stable. He ran a good race when finishing second over 1200m on this course last time. He set the pace that day and fought hard all the way to the line. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and he can go one better.

ALMA MATER finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

PHAKA IMALI has his first run for the Gary Rich stable. He has been disappointing in his three career efforts to date. He gets the blinkers fitted today which should keep his mind on the task at hand. In this type of field, he should show big improvement.
